Big things in store for Front Porch Politics in 2024!
Top 5 Front Porch Politics of 2023! Thanks for supporting journalism!
5. Sometimes a theme just comes together and that's what happened with this show on the importance of land conservation in one of the fastest growing states in the country. We were recently blessed with an Emmy nomination for this one.
https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/charlotte/front-porch-politics/2023/03/01/front-porch-politics
4. When Rob Lee agreed to update and share his story I knew it was going to be powerful. We were lucky to get an Emmy nom for this one too
https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/triangle-sandhills/front-porch-politics/2023/04/05/front-porch-politics
3. This one is in here for pure fun. When I first talked to Zeb I just knew I had to reunite him with the man who made the Tik Tok and made him famous. This was just nominated for an Emmy and I'm so grateful.
https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/triangle-sandhills/front-porch-politics/2023/04/05/front-porch-politics-extra
2. This is one of my favorites because of the man behind the story. The story of justice for the former slaves wrongfully imprisoned building the Western NC railroad is vital--but it would not be as prominent today if not for Steve Little.
https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/triangle-sandhills/front-porch-politics/2023/11/01/front-porch-politics--n-c--railroad-convict-labor-mystery
1. My favorite of 2023 has to be The Last Whistle. It was going to be 1 segment of Front Porch Politics but was so compelling and important we turned it into a documentary. I will always feel a connection to the town and people of Canton after this.

A follow up to the small town mayor trying to solve 150 year old mountain mystery. In the late 1800's, the state used convicts, mostly former slaves who were wrongfully convicted, and many of them died in the horrific conditions and were just buried in holes without any recognition.
Well, that's changing. I LOVE this story.
Then, we meet the youngest county election director in the state. Spoiler alert he's just 21!!! The state has now lost 53 of 100 county election directors since 2020.
