Buttercup was chronically overfed until she reached the shocking weight of 88 lbs — nearly 3x her ideal weight. She could barely waddle across the room, and her immense size was punishing her joints. But thanks to your support, we welcomed Buttercup into our care at SPCA Wake for her much-needed rehabilitation.
Buttercup went into a foster home on to begin a months-long diet and exercise regimen. Her foster parents rooted her on as they worked patiently to support. Buttercup on her journey to better health. Slowly but steadily, Buttercup began to shrink, and her health began to stabilize.
Buttercup’s weight loss journey continues to this day, but now she is enjoying the comforts of a loving home. Buttercup’s new life and second chance at health are all thanks to your generosity and support.

Oh lawd… he comin. Elvis is 30 lbs. of utter excellence. The only thing bigger than his body is his heart 💕 Elvis is a sweet man who just doesn’t understand that curling up on your lap cuts off all circulation to your legs. He just wants love. Elvis was taken to the shelter after his owner sadly passed away. Luckily we were able to step in and transfer him here to SPCA Wake so he could get some much-needed medical care! A little diet and exercise are just what the doctor ordered. So far Elvis has lost a whole pound! His weight loss journey is just beginning, but we know he can do it! You got this Elvis! #dechonking
Surprise! 🥹 No one knew Mindy was pregnant until she started giving birth. The little girl who brought her in noticed her foster bunny had babies overnight, so she took the day off school to help care for mom and her babies and make sure they were all kept safe on their way to us 🥹 What a great foster! She did an excellent job, too — all four babies look plump and healthy, and right now the whole family is nestled up in a warm, quiet room so mom can nurse. ❤️ Thank you to that special young lady for welcoming Mindy’s four newborns into the world with such love!
Teddy’s journey to adoption ❤️ When Teddy was surrendered, skin and bones, to a local shelter, we took him under our wing. Teddy weighed less than half what he should have, and his starved condition came with other life-threatening medical conditions. But after eight weeks of medical care and rehabilitation in an SPCA foster home, Teddy was able to heal ❤️🩹 Sick and injured pets like Teddy need our help every single day.
