Watch Anndelina's Success Story!
Anndelina was diagnosed with COVID-19, then developed acute pneumonia and respiratory failure. Even more challenging, she had a septic infection and suffered a stroke. Anndelina remained in critical condition in the ICU at the hospital until her condition stabilized. Once transferred to Kindred Hospital, she received respiratory therapy and rehabilitation. Thanks to the expert care she received, Anndelina began to breathe on her own again. Her speech therapist made sure she could eat and drink normally again and with that, her physical strength began to return. Anndelina recovered her independence over the activities of daily life and was overjoyed when she was cleared to return home with her family.
She said, “I just want to say that I’m real thankful to my nurses, techs and doctors and everyone who had a part in helping me when I didn’t even know where I was or what was going on. I appreciated the advice my therapists gave me to ‘smell the roses and blow out the candles’ when I had difficulty breathing, and when I’m fully recovered I plan to come back to visit and bring flowers to my caregivers.”

Paula is the owner of a travel agency, and before the pandemic shut everything down, she loved to travel as often as possible. When her asthma began to worsen, and she developed shortness of breath accompanied by coughing and extreme weakness, she took a test and was diagnosed with COVID-19. At the beginning of her stay at Kindred, Paula was very positive and engaged with all of her therapy sessions with her respiratory team, as well as her physical and occupational therapists, and reached several milestones in rapid succession.
Just a little over a month from the day she first arrived at Kindred, Paula was discharged to continue on her journey to recovery before going home and was given a rousing farewell from her team of caregivers and staff who gathered to wish her all the best. “I miss my family and my grandson,” Paula shared just before she left the facility.
