I recently listened to this interesting podcast about emotional and physical pain. Pain is always both physical and emotional. When we experience negative emotions such as anxiety or depression this causes the brain to turn up our pain volume which then lowers our pain tolerance, making things more painful. "100 percent of the signals, the sensory messages from your body filter through your brain's limbic system, which processes emotions, before they become the thing that we call pain.
