Videos by Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading. Multi-hospital health system serving patients and communities across central Pennsylvania.
You might have thought an upbeat birthday greeting sung by restaurant staff over dessert was fun, but may we present a blood clot bringing cheer — and stroke prevention education — to Norma Vidot, of Reading, Pa., with a special birthday performance. Clots and Coffee, a fun and important pop-up educational program that rotates throughout inpatient units at Penn State Health medical centers to educate in-hospital providers about recognizing and responding to symptoms of stroke, visited staff at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center today to share stroke awareness, coffee and "clots" (donut holes), but took a brief detour to sing "Happy Birthday" for Vidot. We hope this special visit made your day memorable 🥳

Health To Go Vending Machine
SOS Berks has partnered with Penn State's College of Medicine to introduce the Health To Go Vending machine in Berks County. This is the first vending machine of its kind in Pennsylvania, offering free wellness and personal care items to those in need.
The machine is located in the lobby of the Reading YMCA at 631 Washington St. and is accessible 24/7. The machine was unveiled on Tuesday with the aim of providing support to the community by dispensing essential items and connecting them to local services within a 5-mile radius through an interactive touch screen.
The machine offers various items, including opioid overdose reversal kits, medication disposable bags, condoms, pregnancy tests, fentanyl and xylazine test strips, and personal care items such as toothbrushes and mouthwash. Additionally, the machine features a large touchscreen that will ask anonymous questions about the user's demographics, experiences, preferences and needs, to help improve the services and better serve the community.
Aleksandra Zgierska, MD, PhD, discusses here how the Health To Go Vending machine works to provide free harm reduction tools in Reading and Harrisburg.
