Another successful night of grinding and paving operations! Crews from Redding and Red Bluff worked in three different locations throughout last night, including the westbound State Route 44 on-ramp, the eastbound State Route 44 on-ramp, and on State Route 44 in the area of Stillwater Road. A big thank you to CHP - Redding for keeping our crews safe last night and thank you to all the motorists who paid attention and drove safely through the area. Our crews and their families appreciate it!

Last night our crews performed grinding and paving operations on State Route 99 between South Avenue and Vina Road. With one-way traffic control in place, they were able to complete the work by 3 a.m. Thank you to all the motorists who paid attention and drove safely through the area. Work continues on the Champlin Slough Bridge Replacement project on SR 99E just south of Los Molinos. The project is on schedule, and the highway is anticipated to be open to through traffic starting in mid-July. Caltrans District 2 would like to thank our motorists for their continued patience as replacement of the century-old bridge continues.
State Route 70 remains closed between Jarbo Gap and the Greenville Wye due to multiple areas of slides/debris flows. This video was taken on State Route 70 near the kayak parking area near Rock Creek Dam. There is currently no estimated time for when State Route 70 will be reopened. Crews are currently assessing the area and creating access for further damage assessment to the roadway and highway infrastructure in the area. HEADS UP: The Caltrans District 2 Tree Crew, Weaverville Maintenance crew, and Trinity Center Maintenance crew will be doing hazard tree removal this week on State Route 3 and State Route 299 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Today crews are working on State Route 3 between Weaverville and Rush Creek Road. Drivers should anticipate one-way traffic control with up to ten-minute delays. Please check QuickMap.dot.ca.gov before traveling through this area to see current areas of road work. As always, please slow down and move over when driving past any of our crews or law enforcement and first responders.
Redding to Anderson Six Lane Project = COMPLETE!
Have you noticed the speed-reduction signs have come down along I-5 in Anderson? That's because Caltrans District 2 has completed the Redding to Anderson Six Lane project and we would like to congratulate the Caltrans team and our contract partners!
The $132 million project expanded the northbound and southbound Anderson to Redding interstate corridor by one lane in each direction, and widened or replaced 10 different bridge structures. The final phase of construction included paving, concrete median barrier placement, drainage, and fiber optic vault work.

LENDING A HELPING HAND: After a recent heavy snow storm, Caltrans District 1 has been unable to access some of their equipment on top of Berry Summit. Today, a snow blower from Caltrans District 2 along with one our operators went over to help out! The operator was successful in clearing the roadway and parking lot and now crews will be able to access the area and fuel their equipment. #DistrictsHelpingDistricts
STATE ROUTE 96 UPDATE: State Route 96 is now open, west of Happy Camp, following a closure due to a slide. As new storms are making their way into our area this week, further slide activity is anticipated. Please keep an eye on our social media pages or QuickMap.dot.ca.gov for up-to-date information.
State Route 89 Helicopter Operations
DIXIE FIRE EMERGENCY WORK: Helicopter operations will continue this week (weather permitting) on State Route 89, just north of the Greenville Wye, to help expedite debris removal and Dixie Fire emergency recovery efforts. The helicopter operations will move north along State Route 89, closer to Greenville, as progress continues through this week.
