I am very happy and excited to at last share with you the completed new Wonder Woman commission I have been working on these past few weeks! The design is by EddyWorkshop and the .stl files can be purchased on Cults3d. As usual this was printed on my Anycubic Photon Mono X with Anycubic standard grey resin, Reprappar clear red and yellow resins. She is painted with a mix of craft acrylics, Tamiya clear red, and various chalk pastels for shading. Her total height is approximately 26" tall from base to sword tip! The upper body and lower body are held together by several powerful rare earth magnets to allow easier break down to pack her for shipping. The base took the longest for me to make as I had to print it in 9 seperate pieces and then splice it all together and needless to say that heavy beast will be shipping in a seperate box of its own! I think this may be my favorite Wonder Woman piece I have done for a client thus far and the clear red and yellow fire effects have me inspired to try that technique out on a Ghost Rider statue for myself!

posted this as a reel but also wanted to make it a regular post. Lets see if I can upload video into one of my regular posts shall we?

The base on the new Wonder Woman commission piece has a few stray arrows shot into it. One problem with thin 3d printed resin is that it can have a tendency to warp and it can be fragile and easily broken. I fixed those issues by sheathing the original thin warped resin arrow shafts with brass tubing! I kinda like how these turned out. Cannot wait to see them in place on the base...final reveal coming soon!

Feeling pretty down in the dumps about my work today. Got passed over to have my work featured by the B3dserk Studios patreon. Yeah the other painter is really good, but I have made painting their Lynda Carter pieces a big part of my life. I guess I have to work harder and improve before I can be note worthy in the comminuty. Hate that I cannot paint better and faster.

Snuck in a little side project time and printed a clear red lens for Maximillian. Tossed some cheap xmas lights behind it just for fun.

Daily update on the new Wonder Woman commission piece. Got the stars on her today! Making the Golden Lasso of Truth later tonight while I wait for my shipment of clear yellow resin to experiment with making the fire pots on the base look more convincing. Getting closer to being complete every day!

FINALLY have all the separate pieces of the base printed, epoxied, and gas putty filled and blended out. Now to spend the next two hours sanding and making sure every inch is ready for primer and then color. Also test printed on of the flames in clear red and not feeling good about it. Ordered some clear yellow resin that should arrive Wednesday and going to try to print the flames in clear yellow and then hand tint that with clear red to make a more realistic flame.

For those interested in the Cinderella 3d printed castle project I am doing...the designer released the second part which is the Top Gold Lattice work that is done at various sizes in a few places on the castle I am yet to be totally familiar with! These parts are super duper tiny and incredibly delicate. I may print the final mulitple pieces of these in a resin that is designed to be more flexible to prevent tiny detail breakage.

The second part released by the designer is the Top Gold Lattice...these are SUPER tiny and fragile!

A little video to share the size of the new Wonder Woman commission piece in progress...

Making more progress on the new Wonder Woman commission. Doing more work on the flesh tones today while I wait another ten hours for the next piece of the giant base to print. After today's final base piece is printed I get to start printing the large Greek column that sits to the rear of the stone steps and then on to the fire pots. This is going to weigh a LOT. Already over a hundred dollars in resin alone making this one.

reuploading this so bear with me...I mislabeled the castle project I am starting, forgive me I have been logging a LOT of late hours so my brain is all fuzzy these days. So I have started 3d printing this amazing Cinderellas castle replica by Edward Orlando. He is offering the 200 some piece project for FREE on his new page and releasing the project files one a week. https://www.facebook.com/groups/droorlando3dprinteddisney
I am printing mine considerably smaller to save on display space!

Had to do a little creative improvement to the Wonder Woman commission piece as I was unhappy with the visible seam line on the neck just below the choker that is sculpted into this version. I added a slightly wider thin styrene strip and that helped to hide the seam where the head joins to the body. Normally I would simply glue the head in place and fill the seam with putty and then it would be gone but since this is being shipped to a client, I have to have the head packed to ship as a seperate piece.

Wanting to take a moment and bask in some pride at how cleanly these three split pieces of the Wonder Woman base have mated together. I see a lot of 3d print enthusiasts struggle with parts warpage and poor fitment when splitting large pieces. It really comes down to print bed orientation and proper supports. Hollow your model...orient so all flat faces are facing upwards at an angle away from the print bed and even close supports along the edges the piece grows from. I learned this thru a lot of trial and error and a lot of wasted resin on my own expense for the valuable learning curve that is paying off today. The minor seams I have here will easily fill with epoxy putty and become invisible when I am done post processing these pieces.

08/07/2024

While I wait for the next ten hour piece to print on the Wonder Woman base, I am doing the tedious but satisfying task of adding some wooden dowels as key pegs to help not only align but strengthen the join where I am putting the multiple pieces of the base together. These parts will be adhered with a strong two part epoxy, but the pegs will also help prevent them from easily being broken apart by anything other than deliberate violent breakage! This massive base is a total of six pieces to assemble and each piece takes ten hours each to print on my printer.

08/07/2024

Progress pic of the day. Completed the left arm and shield for the new Wonder Woman statue commission! I really loved doing the fine detail work on this shield! The massive stone step base is taking forever to print. In order to print the huge base I had to split it into 6 sections each section takes ten hours to print. I have two sections printed so far.

08/05/2024

Late night progress photo. The new Wonder Woman commission is clocking in at 24" from boot heel to sword tip, that's 2 freaking feet tall. What is crazy is that the huge base will add at least another 5" to that! Making myself crazy tonight working on installing magnets on the body sections so I can more safely and easily ship this to its owner when I am done!

08/03/2024

A little before and after comparison. Still waiting for her body to print.

08/02/2024

Spending the afternoon getting the portrait done on the new Wonder Woman statue commission!

08/02/2024

More progress on my Maximillion from Disney's The Black Hole. Got the pelvis section printed after three very frustrating failures. Still doing a lot of "body shop" filler work cleaning up minor imperfections on the body surface from the supports from 3d printing.

Gauging interest, another possible project, I have these Wonder Woman Red Son variant statues I could print and paint. You know the drill contact me if you want to commission. Reminder...if it exists, I can 3d print and paint it, just ask. Only respond by messaging me to commission, no need to "like", I need commissions, not turning this page into a gallery for 3d print appreciation.

Switched things up this week and made Rhaenyry's crown from House of the Dragon. 3d resin printed in 1:1 scale on my Anycubic Photon Mono X.

Photos from Dragonfyre Designs's post 07/30/2024

Gauging interest once again, since there were no takers for the DC Bombshells set...would there be interest in anyone commissioning this Wonder Woman statue? I have NOT purchased the .stl 3d print files for it, and I wont unless there is an actual commission. Would be willing to do a limited run of maybe five of these if there was sufficient interest, IE people willing to do a 50% deposit. Message me if you are interested. I would likely be making her in 1/6 scale which considering the pose would put her height close to 15 or more inches because of the raised arm. For the sake of shipping I would also use magnets to join various parts together, so she can be broken down and shipped safely.

Finished EvilLyn this weekend. She may be one of my favorite figures I have painted so far! Printed on my Anycubic Photon Mono X using Anycubic standard grey resin. She stands 13.5 inches tall which I believe makes her 1/6 scale. As always painted with craft acrylics and chalk pastels. Remember I am available for commission work.

07/28/2024

Started making myself a little personal pet project I have been wanting for a very long time from one of my favorite movies...who knows what I am making?

07/27/2024

EvilLyn's coming along nicely. Still have shading to do on the skin and more work on her boots and staff, but I hope to have her complete in the next two days or so.

07/27/2024

Managed to get EvilLyn's face portrait completed to my satisfaction
