As we close out #FosterCareMonth we asked Charell Star to share ways to help #NewYork youth in foster care. #OpenYourHeartOpenYourHome by becoming a foster parent. Learn more here: https://ocfs.ny.gov/programs/fostercare/

Believing that no one cares about you is one of the hardest feelings to navigate as a child in #fostercare. So when Charell Star advocates, she always tries to ground everyone in the fact that we are speaking about kids and teens who feel really scared and alone and we all have a responsibility to help them. At the recent #fostecareawarenessmonth event, Charell asked attendees to share their one wish for #fostercareyouth or one thing they wanted youth in care to know. The responses were beautiful and will be shared with youth in care across New York. While Charell did not get to hear these words when she was in care, she is finding a way for them to be heard now ❤. #fostercareawareness #fostercarejourney #fostercaremonth #fostercarestories

2024 International Mother Language Day
Join New York State in celebrating International Mother Language Day! On February 21, 1952, Bangladesh fought for its people’s right to speak Bangla, their mother language. To honor that day, UNESCO declared International Mother Language Day. Today, Bangla is one of the non-English languages most commonly spoken in New York. With more than 800 languages spoken at homes across the state, we celebrate our cultural diversity. As a New Yorker, you have the right to access state programs, benefits, and services, no matter what language you speak. Learn more about your language access rights with this guide from New York State Office of General Services: https://ogs.ny.gov/know-your-rights
