Jade Brush Art
Hi I'm Jade! and I like colorful things! click below to check out my artwork at the RAW showcase last I have a range of products that span a wide range of prices.
Switching gears back to painting. I love that the person I'm painting this for wanted me to paint a fun photo of his cat peeking out of a box. It shows off her personally πΊ
How it started vs how it's going edition! Hanging out in my messy garage working on tie dye commissions because it's 109F outside y'all! Hope everyone is staying cool and chill this Mondayπ΅
Another day another layer of Pockets the cat in a box.
First layer is down for my latest commission. A good friend of mine recently lost his cat Pockets. He found her in a shed at work and we both spent a good chunk of our day taking care of the kittens. This particular kitten was so small that she could fit in the breast pocket of my friend's shirt, where he carried her, hence the name. Back to oil painting folks!
First event of the year! Hanging out at the Elks Lodge in Trona, CA helping them raise money for Spring Fling πΌ
I'm really happy to be out and about talking about art, meeting people, and being so thankful at how lucky I am to get to experience the support and kindness from this community.
Ready to go at the Elks in Trona πΌ
I'll be at the Trona Elks Lodge tomorrow with my art and cards! Come by and say hello!
This is the most detailed watercolor I've done so far. I had to get the eyes just right because they belong to a very special and much loved little lady. There are no do-overs in watercolor, once paint goes down it can't be undone. It can be stressful, but it also leads to focused attention, thoughtful steps and deep caring. This painting really made me fall in love with watercolor. I'm looking forward to more!
Butterfly Eyes - Painting commission in watercolor - By Jade Brush
π¦ποΈ
Getting to the most detailed part of this piece: the eyes.
π¦ποΈ
Details added to the blue butterfly. Getting ready to make real progress on the pink one. This has been really fun to do so far, I'm excited for the next part! π¦
Details are getting filled in. I have to say, I'm really loving my process on this one. I practiced drawing what I wanted to do, then repeated it on the watercolor paper. Watercolor pencils have been a life saver for helping get the details as symmetrical as possible. If you've been hanging around this Instagram, you know I love butterflies and these are easily becoming a favorite pair.
First painting of the new year and I love it because it inspires me. I had one goal today and that was to lay the foundational drawing. When I finished that, I wanted to do more, so now I have the first layer of paint and I'm gonna keep going! This commission is a beautiful idea that I'm so happy I get to make come to life. More butterfly eyes progress to come!
Long time no post. What can I say? It's the holidays. You probably understand. Speaking of the holidays, I just had my 37th birthday and to celebrate I'm having a 37% off sale until January 1st! I've got 2 kids, so I'm not going anywhere for the holidays. I'm here and ready to send art your way! Happy holidays everyone! Catch you in 2024!
My spacey sunshine painting is an acrylic painting I painted while pregnant with my son. It now hangs in his bedroom π
I'm always inspired by nature. Living in the desert, you really learn to appreciate the color green. This was taken at a little spring and creek in a southern Sierra canyon.
But this post isn't just about a pretty hiking picture I took. Nope. It's also an ad. Yep, the dreaded ad post to tell you I'm having a cyber Monday sale in my shop where almost everything is 40% off. Maybe you'll check it out, maybe you won't. Either way, you get to scroll away with this lovely image in your mind and well wishes for a happy day. I hope you have a wonderful day!
It has been wild going back to work after parental leave was up. Adjusting this past month or so has not been as easy peasy as I hoped. I haven't forgotten about you and I haven't put down my brushes or tie dye yet! I'm inviting you to my cyber Monday sale with almost everything 40% off for one day only! I've never run a sale this big before! I hope you'll check it out π©·

October is here and I've decided to dig up my spooky art from years ago. My art used to be inspired by what I was feeling; can you tell from this image that I have anxiety? These days, music is how I express my feelings and my art is more about what brings me joy and discovering my true self beneath the layer of feelings. This particular piece means a lot to me because it's basically my brain on cardstock. A mixed bag in mixed media, very fitting. Remember, your feelings are valid and you are not alone.
I am creating limited artist proof prints of this piece that will be signed and numbered by me and shipped to you. They are not on Etsy, so please DM me if you are interested.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
(Speaking of Wednesday, when I watched the show Wednesday on Netflix and saw her and her roommate with their split black and rainbow room I immediately thought of this image and felt very seen π€π)
October is here! Who is ready for spooky season?
I've been out of town this week and haven't been posting my usual fair of tie dye and art. However, I have many more tie dye videos on the way and markets coming up as well. I have also been working on making limited edition prints of my Searles Valley Pink Halite watercolor. I'm working hard y'all!
I love getting out and doing markets again. I like talking to people and sharing my work. At the same time, I can be my own worst critic. I am always reading up on how to improve my booth and my business overall and my biggest faux pas is to have so many different items (tie dye and art). Can I help it? Yes. Do I want to? No, not really. I like what I do, I like all of what I do and if that's not the "right" way to do things then so be it. I don't do this to be the best or quit my day job. I'm here to enjoy connecting with people over art, in various forms. I hope you enjoy it π
I'm getting spacey this weekend π What are you getting up to?
Sharing my butterflies in triangles this It reminds of kind of a broken mirrors look and is ultimately one of my favorite colored pencil drawings.
Ice dye Mandala video! As promised π Happy π
A quick video on how to make an ice dyed mandala! Start by folding shirt in half by stuffing one sleeve into the other then make a paper airplane-like fold. Draw a zig zag pattern down the triangular fold. Tie fold along pattern with sinew. Put dye directly on shirt. Make a cardboard mold to hold your ice and add ice. Wait 24hrs and keep adding ice as it melts. After 24hrs, flip work and add dye and ice to the other side for another 24hrs. Rinse, then wash with dye setter and dry. Now you have an ice dyed mandala!
My latest creation: ice dyed mandala π I am putting together a video for how I made this one. Stay tuned!
This lovely tribute to my favorite place on earth is going to its new home today β€οΈ This watercolor painting features pink halite, a collectors mineral can be found at Searles Lake, CA and in the background are the famous Trona Pinnacles on the south end of Searles Lake. This lovely out-of-this-world landscape has been featured in many SciFi films and TV shows including Planet of the Apes and Battlestar Galactic. More recently they can be seen in Lady Gaga's "Stupid Love" music video. This is the desert I call my home and I'm so happy to share it with others who love this desert and its rocks.
If you're interested, prints will be available soon. Please send me a DM so I can get a count. Much appreciated!
Happy π rocking my latest tie dye piece at the Friday Night Market where I picked up a new tie dye commission *video pending*
This commission is going to be interesting because it's an ice dyed mandala and my last attempt at this was a total fail in what I was going for. That's how you learn!
What I learned is I need to flip the work over and ice dye the other side, so that's what's happening right now! But what I really learned is that even when a tie dye doesn't turn out how I envisioned, it still ends up with a cool effect that I now know how to make in the future π
Labor Day sale is on! 25% Off all non-custom made items, so basically everything! π π€
Tonight at 5pm I'll be at the desert empire fairgrounds in Ridgecrest, CA. Come check out local artists and bakers! I have new prints and tie dye to debut too!
to the last Friday Night Market. I'll be back again today...without the fabulous Morticia hair π€ Come check out local vendors, bakers, artisans and more!
As promised, new art is up on my I finally got around to making my blue door painting available. I hope you like it π
