I am running for Sheriff because I believe in creating safe communities through community-based policing. My vision is to build strong relationships between law enforcement and the community, based on mutual trust, respect, and cooperation. I know that tackling crime is a team effort and a collaborative process where community involvement and partnerships are essential. As Sheriff, I will work to
I had an amazing time at the 200th annual Savannah St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festivities yesterday!
It was incredible to see the diverse and tight-knit community of Chatham County come together to celebrate this special day.
I believe events like these are what make our county so unique and I am committed to preserving and promoting our local traditions.
I want to wish you a very happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’ll be in downtown Savannah today, so if you see me, be sure to say hi!
Whether you’re sipping on a pint of Guinness or enjoying a shamrock-shaped cookie, remember: we’re all a little Irish today. May your day be filled with luck, laughter, and a touch of that famous Irish charm.
Stay safe, Savannah!
Despite being entrusted with the safety and well-being of inmates and staff, Wilcher’s lax oversight has allowed corruption to fester within the very walls meant to uphold justice.
Wilcher will tell you he’s determined to fix the problem—but he is the problem.
Once again, John Wilcher continues to let Chatham County down. The trust and confidence of the people of Chatham County have been shattered by the repeated incidents at the county jail. It’s time for a sheriff who will restore that trust and ensure that our community is protected.

🚨 ENDORSEMENT ALERT 🚨
I am deeply honored to have the endorsement of retired Commander Gregory Black. Mr. Black served our nation as a naval officer for 21 years and is the owner of Patriot Precision Printing Services right here in Savannah (whom we use to print our campaign materials!).
Gregory’s story is truly an American one—his career and life are built on integrity and service, and I couldn’t be more proud to have his support in this crucial election. He’s been by my side since we launched this campaign and always given his unwavering support. I’m ready to be the sheriff that you deserve, and Gregory thinks so, too.

Former Chatham County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Burns explains why he wants the top job After working in the Chatham County Sheriff's Office as an Advanced Deputy, Kevin Burns explains his intentions to run for Chatham County Sheriff.
I had a great time at The Stop the Violence Rally yesterday! It was inspiring to see members of our community coming together to address this important issue. As your next Sheriff, I believe it's vital to show up and support events like these, because we all have a role to play in stopping violence in our community.
I was there the entire time, listening to the concerns and ideas of our citizens. I am committed to working towards a safer Chatham County and I thank everyone who attended and made their voices heard. Let's continue to make a positive impact together.
While others may make promises they don’t intend to keep and spin their platforms up on the spot, I am the only candidate in this race with a plan to fight crime and make our community safe—the only candidate with an actual plan, period.
I understand the importance of transparency and accountability, especially in law enforcement, which is why my plan is available to you at all times on my website.
I have spent countless hours researching and consulting with experts to create a plan that not only addresses current issues but also prepares for future challenges. I am committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of our community, and I believe my plan is the best way to achieve that.

As we celebrate Black History Month, we not only honor the courageous leaders and activists who have fought for equality and justice—we also acknowledge our responsibility to maintain those rights.
I am humbled and inspired by the trailblazers who have come before me, paving the way for this historic campaign. Their sacrifices and contributions have allowed me and many others to have the opportunities we have today. I am grateful for their bravery and determination, and I am committed to honoring their legacy by serving my community with integrity and transparency.
My goal as your next Sheriff is to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents of Chatham County, regardless of race or background.
I ask for your support and trust in this election, not because of my race, but because of my qualifications and dedication to making our county a safer and more just place for all. Together, we can continue to make history in Chatham County.
As I attended the Savannah Traffick Jam today, a forum aimed at bringing law enforcement agencies from across Georgia together to combat human trafficking, I couldn't help but feel a sense of urgency and determination in the room.
This forum highlighted the alarming fact that Savannah, with its vibrant tourism industry and multiple major interstates, has become a hub for human trafficking and gang activity. The combination of these factors has made Savannah a haven for criminals, exploiting the vulnerable and perpetuating violence and crime.
The rise in gang activity and violent crimes has shed light on the urgent need for collaborative efforts in putting an end to this heinous practice.
With law enforcement agencies joining forces, it is clear that the City of Savannah is not taking this issue lightly and is determined to become a leader in ending human trafficking and criminal activity.
I am proud to stand with a strong leader in this fight, Mr. Bill Gettis, CEO of The Savannah Interagency Diversity Council.
As your next Sheriff, I will dedicate every available resource to end this crime. Together, we can all make the difference to end human trafficking.
It is distressing to think that our youth, who should be filled with hope and dreams for the future, are instead turning to guns and violence to solve their problems.
Let us use this tragedy as a wake-up call to take action and create a safer and more compassionate environment for our youth.

Wow, Savannah! Yesterday, we marched in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade and I’ve got to say… Savannah, you brought it!
What an amazing day honoring Dr. King and his legacy. I was reminded of one of Dr. King’s quotes “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.” And this race for sheriff matters!
I never thought I would run for political office, but as crime worsened over time, I knew it was time for change. I look forward to earning your support over the coming weeks and months because it’s time for something new.

December is National Impaired Driving Awareness Month. Did you know that about 37 people die everyday in drunk driving incidents? (Source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)
Driving while intoxicated is dangerous for you, the occupants in your vehicle, other drivers and passengers, bystanders, and more.
This weekend, various state and local law enforcement agencies are teaming up to target drunk driving in Chatham County. Their job is an important one: take those who shouldn't be driving off the streets. This holiday season, be smart, be safe, and have a plan.

Charlene and I had a wonderful time at the Greater Savannah Black Business Chamber of Commerce.
Small businesses provide employment opportunities, help stimulate the local economy, and create competition in the marketplace. Small businesses often reinvest their profits within the local community, which helps to support the local economy. Having a strong and robust local economy is important for fighting crime.
Yesterday, Charlene and I were very pleased to attend the Toastmasters Small Business Chamber event. I was happy to meet these amazing folks and I can’t wait to return soon!
