Breed of the day! Deutsch Drahthaar 🇩🇪

Last year while I was guiding I had an older gentleman leave his dog with me. At the time I had only read about this breed in books/internet. I still couldn’t name one dog in a Drahts pedigree, but now I’m motivated to learn about them!!

Sam is an absolute beast of a dog & has completely gone above and beyond what I could ever imagine. No matter the situation, she is not a quitter.

She reminds me of a dog that would live at the eagles nest or be the bird dog of the third reich. She is a German machine.

I jokingly tell people if you were stuck on plant earth alone and had to survive you would want a dog like Sam. She truly embodies what it means to be versatile. I really have yet to find a hole with her, she’s incredible on both upland & waterfowl. She will hang out with my cocker spaniels but will also kill a coyote or fox.

There’s great pedigrees, amazing kennels & then there’s just special dogs. Sam will always be a special dog to me.

Xeno x River breeding 🧬 is here!!

The parents are professional guide dogs, that hunt the entire season on multiple different species. When not hunting they both have an off switch & live inside the house. Xeno the sire owned by my colleague Cuttin Coveys Kennel Drew Rodman After carefully analyzing both parents we made the joint decision to breed them.

These pups will have a strong desire to point, retrieve, love for the water, & will be biddable with a sound temperament. Just like the parents they will be workhorses in the field but will also be your best friend & make excellent family dogs too!!

In 95° heat yesterday CJ & Rosie beat 32 dogs in the Arizona NSTRA region!! CJ is a phenomenal trainer & handler, we couldn’t be more proud of this accomplishment! This is so exciting 🎉 🎉
