Wonderful poetry book and poignant poem.

One of my favorite birth books! I now have a used copy in the shop for $10! It is a fourth edition, so it does not have gender inclusive language. But it is still an amazing resource to have!

02/08/2023

What are you reading this month? What’s a good book you recently read? What has been the most helpful book you’ve read on pregnancy or birth or parenting or postpartum etc.?

01/13/2023

Did someone say bookclub?! Oh, they didn’t? Well…. Bookclub! I have to set it up, think Facebook group with community, learning, discovering! Who’s interested?

01/09/2023

What are you reading? What’s in your TBR? Anything related to birth, postpartum, parenting, menstruation, menopause, chestfeeding, fertility, loss, abortion?

12/21/2022

Ohhh! A little sneak peak of the postpartum book box books! This box is $72.50, but the information is invaluable! I have read and recommend each of these three amazing books, both to parents and birthworkers. Find more info on what’s inside these books via the description in the shop! www.thereadingwomb.com

What do you prefer? What do you read more from? I probably read equally from print books and my Kindle. I tend to do more easy reading from my kindle and books I want to learn from in print!

With black Friday, small business, Saturday, cyber Monday, and every other shopping day ahead of us, I invite you to think about where you spend your money and who you support as you shop!

Believe me, I understand the other convenience of Amazon. I still use Amazon myself! But I have been using it less and shopping small, more. I try to support women, q***r, and Black owned businesses as much as I can! Shopping small makes an impact! Shopping can be a form of activism! so if you want to make a difference this holiday season, give to charity, and shop intentionally ❤️

I make it a point to read before bed instead of being on TikTok or watching TV. I have never been a good sleeper, and finding time to read with two little kiddos is tough, so this is a perfect time to read for me! I’m not sure if it actually helps me sleep, but I like the idea that it could!

11/14/2022

Isn’t that amazing? Reading for just 6 minutes a day can reduce stress up to 68%! Potentially even more so than listening to music, having a cup of tea or taking a walk! Instead of doom scrolling, everyone should pick up a book! And why not a book that helps you plan for starting a family or postpartum, or menstruation or menopause!

11/08/2022

I love finding unique and helpful books. This book would have been so good for me after having my first baby, denying I had postpartum anxiety, up all night, not sure how to help myself.

From the back cover:

“Awake at 3 a.m. contains short, digestible chapters that are perfect for when you are feeling exhausted or overwhelmed. Neufeld skillfully dismantles the myths and internal beliefs that contribute to the suffering of new mothers and tells her own story with honesty and humor. From breathing techniques to mindfulness exercises, the yoga practices here are designed to fit into your life as it is now—no flexibility, mat, special clothes, or 90-minute yoga class required.

Another important resource! There just isn’t enough books to support marginalized communities.

Back cover “Bringing together the stories and experiences of LGBT+ parents as well as professionals in the field, this guide explains what healthcare and birth workers can do to improve care for their clients. It broadens the ability to understand those who birth and parent beyond the heteronormative and cisgender binary.

Covering topics such as LGBT+ and neurodiversity, surrogacy and lactation, as well as including interviews from Jake Graf, Freddy McConnell and Sabia Wade, AJ Silver brings to light the failures of the maternity system for LGBT+ parents and discusses how these mistakes can be avoided.”

Just another one of the wonderful books offered at The Reading Womb!

Today’s book spotlight is The Cure We Dream Of by Zena Sharman. Liberatory and transformative approaches to LGBTQ+ health.

Back of the book “what if you could trust you’d get the healthcare you needed in ways that felt good and helped you thrive? What if the health system honored and valued q***r and trans peoples lives, bodies and expertise? What if LGBTQ+ communities led and organized our own healthcare as a form of mutual aid? What if every aspect of our health care was written in a commitment to our healing, pleasure and liberation?”

Some of the chapters include: cripping healing, the system isn’t broken it’s working as designed, regrowth in ruins, revolution through healthcare, ritualizing q***r care, and so much more! This is a dense and necessary book for ANYONE, especially those who are in healthcare in any capacity.

some of the chapters included are: the story we were told, fat and joyful, boss, your birth, preparing for your positive birth, kick ass for support, and more!

The amount of people suffering from postpartum mood disorders is on the rise all the time. It's more than an understanding of what it is, it is the way birthers and new parents are treated and supported. Something so commonplace it’s almost considered normal, and yet there’s not enough discussion or support! That’s why I created this book box. Read personal accounts, work through thoughts and feelings, learn about PPMD and work on self care. Find this box in my shop now
