Happy Labor Day🛠
Quilting may not be my primary job, but there is no way you can say making a quilt isn't hard work.
I am pleased to introduce to you all my 2025 quiltcon entry for the Ruby and Bee solids challenge.❤️💛💙🩵🖤
This is the Cassandra pattern one I created in 2023. One of the biggest compliments I received when I released this pattern was that it had an off-center option, which is not something you see that often in quilt patterns. One of the other really neat things about this pattern is that you can rotate the block is each "pathway" to create a different look, like a kaleidoscope.
So will it be Quiltcon or bust?
I can't wait!
I literally CAN NOT WAIT!!
, but we're throwing it way back!!
Take a stroll down memory lane with me and take a peek at some of my favorite curated bundles over the past 4 years!
I could probably make 10 posts of bundles, and there would still be more to show you.
Can you guess which one is my very first ever curated bundle?!
Have you ever consciously put a quilt top together the wrong way?!🙋🏻♀️
Guilty over here! It was the last seam, and I had the two halves laid out the correct way, but then my brain said, "What if you put them this way?" 🔀
And so I did, and so it became! So here is my version. I like the separation of color, I think it's more balanced and fun. Check out the last two slides for the original option A and my option B, and let my know in the comments what one you would of chosen?👇
🐎Do you ever get overly obsessed with a print?
🐎If you can't tell from these pics, mine is the blue Mustangs from the OG RSS darlings collection. (For now)
🐎I mean, the Mustangs in suede aren't to shabby either, but I think the fun pop of blue is what makes them so attractive. Also while fawning over this print and quilt, I realized that the 4.5" block size is perfect to showcase them, I mean with the exception of having to chop a few heads and tails off the majority of them came out with a decent image of the Mustang.
Ok well enough about my favorite print (for now) TELL ME what is your obsession lately?!?👇👇👇
One more day til the weekend!! Woo whoo!!! I have been chipping away at this bundle, cutting it up and sewing it back together again.
This isn't my first time using speckled fabrics by RSS, but for some reason, this fabric seems very thin and light. It is 108, so I am wondering if that's the reason, but why would they make the 108 lighter than the regular stuff??
Does anyone else notice this?

It's Monday..... and I need some pretty fabrics to look at.

Not gonna lie I was obsessed with the darlings cover quilt for this pattern but it's almost impossible to find a kit that isn't marked up a bazillion percent at this point, so here we are and let me tell you I am over the moon excited about it.
Just a little more happy fabric to get you over the hump this week 🐫
I think this might be the final pull for the next quilt I have planned, but I am trying to really focus on getting those Hexxies done, so it might have to wait a while to be cut up.
🎈Just a POP of color to brighten your feed today!
One last group of pictures for this quilt because it's just so good 🤩
I love this quilt so much, and every time I stop to admire it, I see a new quilty treasure like these ladies on a 1" strip of fabric!
I mean fried eggs, balloon dogs, and octopus' galore it's like playing I spy 🕵️♀️
Happy 4th of July!
Baby, you're a firework 🎆
When your longarmer takes better pics of your finished quilt than you do!

I couldn't wait any longer to play with my dyed fabrics, and the sunny Sunday morning turned into a gloomy and gray afternoon, giving me the perfect guilt free opportunity to make a few of these babies.
I am super proud of the colors I have achieved. However, I was a little disappointed with the splotches in my red cutch. The other fabrics are splotchy, too, but less noticeable. I have already done my research as to possible missteps in my process, and I have concluded it was one of two issues. I didn't scour the fabric properly, or I overstuffed my mordoranting pot.
I know I've said it before, dying fabric is tricky, but so are all new things you learn. I won't let the splotches get to me. Instead, I choose to embrace the unique ✨️
Rainbow Starry!
Idk if I should be asking ya'll to talk me into it or talk me out of it!!
But I just don't think there is a better backing for this quilt than some OG rainbow starry 🤩
What say you my friends?! Vote below!
Starry Rainbow for backing?
My treasures from yesterday mixed with some from a few years ago.
Fabric dying is hard, ya'll. There are so many different ways to dye fabric, not to mention the different processes and mordorant or tannins you need to use to prep your fabric before you dye it. But we learn by doing and hopefully don't repeat the mistakes.
I used a new pot this time around, and the bottom is thinner than my last pot, and I scorched some fabric during the scouring process. Unfortunately, there is nothing to do besides try and dye the piece darker than the burn spot. I was unsuccessful at this, but it gives the fabric characte, and I'm ok with it.
This time around, I started with a color I previously made, black walnut. I boiled black walnut shells for an hour, then strained the dye. And submerged my freshly mordoranted fabric for 12 hours. The result is a smooth chocolate brown. (Pics 5+6)
Then I tried a new dye. Himalayan rubarb powered. I tried my best to calculate how much powder to use based on weight of fabric but ended up not even dying one of the pieces I planned to because I didn't want to overcrowd my pot. So my best guess is 8% weight of fabric was used in powder. Also, the color was looking pretty red in my pot, so I made a last-minute decision and threw some turmeric in there 😬 talk about chaos dying.
I made a new quilty bag and I am so glad it's finished ✅️

✨️I did a thing today!
✨️✨️Well, my dad did!
This is my first time displaying a full size quilt on a wall in my house, and it only took 3 years 🗓
I am so dang excited to have another option to display my quilts besides folded up in a stack or on the overflowing quilt rack in my sewing room. The best part is how dang goofy my smile is every time I walk past it!😝
Day 31 want to make quilt
Well, here she is, the quilt i have been dying to make. The by
As soon as I saw this quilt, I just fell in love, especially with Tara's original version that has that blurred 3D look to it. Of course, me in my wovens era had to make it warp and weft. So I did this mock-up and acquired the fabrics, and it's is just waiting to be put together. The last slide is Tara's original feather color mock-up.
It's Good Friday 🌤
Though I am not a particularly religious person, the holidays were always celebrated in my family. When people talk about holidays they always look at me a little funny when I say Easter is my favorite holiday and the memories of making Easter bread with my grandmother on Good Friday is definitely one of the reasons why.
For the first time since grade school, Gram and I are making P***a. While at her house I was so excited to find the quilt I made her 2 years ago, for her 88th birthday, on her bed. My Gram always supported my crafting habits and was the one who got me started in cross stitch. Today is definitely a Good Friday 🙏

Day 23 Quilts in the wild
I have had two opportunities to take some quilts out around town for some glamor shots. However, most of the time, the good ol' trusty red shed is where all the magic happens ✨️
# Day 22 Most loved quilt
That would most definitely be the by This is the first quilt I backed in chore coat, and it just added a layer of thickness that makes it feel a bit more durable and cozy. It is definitely a household favorite 🤎🩵💙🧡🩶🤍🤎
Day 20 comfort zone
Diamonds baby! 💎 This quilt top is by far the leader in pushing me out of my comfort zone. Off set strip piecing, cutting at a 45 degree angle and don't get me started with measuring a 1/4" at all the seams and then pinning each one to try and get those perfect, I mean passable points. 😁 Not even gonna lie it's definitely the reason it's my longest standing WIP.
