While conducting inspections, RFD Engine 16 was approached by a stray dog. They safely caught the dog, got the chip read, and are in the process of returning the dog to its owner.

Happy Father's Day from RFD!!
We would like to congratulate Monroe County’s newest recruit class upon their successful, 100% completion of the Candidate Physical Aptitude Test (CPAT) this morning. Recruits from the Ridge Road Fire District, Henrietta Fire District, Irondequoit Fire District, Fishers Fire District, Gates Fire District Headquarters, Barnard Professional Firefighters Local 4030, Lake Shore FD - Monroe County, and the City of Canandaigua Department have spent countless hours over the past 14 weeks with our PT instructors preparing for this test. Physical fitness is a huge component of doing this job, and the proper physical conditioning of our recruits ensures they are able to effectively perform their job requirements when they come to the line later this month. Congrats to all!
Clean up at Mt hope cemetery
Harry B Austin
Thank you to our members who came out for the annual cleanup of the Harry B Austin plot.
For those who do not know, Harry B Austin is the ONLY member from the Protectives to die in the line of duty. Every year we come out to Mt hope cemetery and clean up his plot along with his parents plot.
Then we take a trip down to the fireman's plot in the cemetery, and pay our respects to members who have passed away, along with others from RFD.
We will be doing this again in the fall.

Yesterday, the Protectives had a visit from Flower City Arts Center. A few of our members were able to show this group who the Protectives are and what we do. This young group of middle schoolers had their film cameras ready to go. Thank you to Flower City Art Center for coming out, and we hope you enjoyed the visit. And a big thank you to our members Kania Williams, Kalia Williams, Donna Davis, and Chief Phil Gibeau showing this young group of photographers our quarters.
We have a firefighter in the hospital. His son made the all star team for hockey. Dad couldn’t make it, but all his brother and sister firefighters made sure they were there for the family.

Lithium-ion batteries are found in so many devices like cell phones, laptops, and much more. But if you follow a few safety tips, you can keep yourself and your family safe, like not charging a device under your pillow, on your bed, or on a couch. Instead, choose a hard surface like a table, desk or counter. For more information, check out: nfpa.org/lithiumionsafety
