Attention students and parents!
Dear Rock Hill Schools Family,
Reminder: Tomorrow is early dismissal and Friday through April 7 all district offices and schools are closed for Spring Break.
We also want to inform you about our school schedule for the day we return from break on April 8 and to remind you about an important safety precaution regarding the solar eclipse expected that afternoon.
All schools and district facilities will be operating on our regular schedule on April 8. All classes, activities, and programs will proceed as usual and we look forward to providing our students with enriching learning experiences that day.
We want to bring to your attention the occurrence of a solar eclipse that afternoon as witnessing such an event can be an exciting and educational opportunity, it's crucial to emphasize the importance of eye safety. Looking directly at the sun during an eclipse can cause severe damage to the eyes, including permanent blindness. Therefore, we kindly request your cooperation in discussing this matter with your student at home.
We ask you to remind your student to avoid looking directly at the eclipse without proper eye protection. It's essential to ensure our students understand the potential risks associated with viewing the eclipse improperly and take appropriate precautions to safeguard their vision. NASA provides great information about safety and the eclipse on their website.
Our teachers and staff members will also be sharing information about eclipse safety with their classes. They will be reinforcing the message of using proper eye protection and practicing safe viewing techniques during this rare celestial event.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding our school schedule or the solar eclipse, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Your child's safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we appreciate your partnership in keeping them safe and informed.
Thank you,
Rock Hill Schools
