NEW TIME!! 6:30 am Yoga Class Crunch Fitness in Braintree on Friday, Aug 30th.

Join me for an all-levels flow. We will start out nice and slow warming up, moving to standing. We will do a couple of sun salutations and then run through various asanas that gracefully move from one to the other ending with a final relaxation and short guided meditation.

I never have had a class where a participant doesn't comment on how much they love my playlists so here is a preview of what I have planned. 🤘

The Growth Mindset 07/26/2024

I have been thinking of how to best share with my clients how to grow in their fitness journey. Initially, my mind went to various tips, exercises, and techniques, but then it dawned on me… that isn’t where true growth comes from. Yes, those things are helpful and will give them knowledge and skill, but they don’t address the root cause of why we sometimes feel stuck.

Growth starts with our mindset. It starts with being OK with being vulnerable.
Recently, I rewatched two TED talks by Brenè Brown on vulnerability and shame. The most profound thing she said was, “The birthplace of creativity, innovation, and growth is vulnerability.” Being vulnerable means, we have the courage to put ourselves out there and not be afraid to fail. Failing is how we learn to adapt. Failing is how we learn what works and what doesn’t. Vulnerability allows us to take chances, learn from our mistakes, adjust, and grow.

Hello local friends and family! I will be teaching Hatha Yoga on Friday mornings @ Crunch Fitness in Braintree! If you are a member, please join me for practice. We will do a little guided meditation, sun salutations, asana practice, and some final relaxation. It's a wonderful way to end the work week 😌.

If you are new to yoga, don't sweat it! I will be easing participants into the practice over the next several weeks. This will not be a vigorous practice. We will keep to a slow to moderate pace. I will also offer additional instructions and cues to help guide you through the practice.

If you aren't a member and would like to join, all Crunch classes are included in the Peak membership for $24.99 and that includes access to the gym + a free kick-off session with a personal trainer when you sign up. If you are an early riser like me, since I am also a trainer, I can run your kick-off session for you!

I would love to have you join me for practice! If you plan to sign up, I recommend bringing a yoga mat, blocks, and some water.

A Modern Guide to the Yamas | How to Practice Satya — Alo Moves 02/18/2023

I participated in a zoom call this morning with my fellow yoga teacher trainees around the globe, and it inspired me to share the below article. On our call, we focused on Satya. Satya is one of the yamas and translates to truthfulness.

So many of us believe we are being truthful because we aren't outwardly lying. In reality, though, this is only a tiny piece of what it means to be truthful.

Truthfulness starts with being your authentic self and not acting in a way that deviates from your beliefs, regardless of the pressures you feel from your family, friends, and society. This is harder than it sounds! It's about speaking up for yourself, possibly choosing a different path than the group, and aligning your thoughts with your behavior. It's also about not forcing your truth on others and letting your ego step in with judgments and directives.

I think we can all remember when peer pressure has gotten the best of us or when we didn't speak up and let others step on our toes. When does this pop up for you in everyday life? How have you worked through it to become your authentic self?
