Sharpsburg Elementary School Rendering to Reality
Today’s Rendering to Reality features Sharpsburg Elementary School, a 59,695 SF replacement that opened in Fall 2020. The design of the school celebrates its past and sets the tone for the community's bright future. The influence of their rich Civil War history, agricultural roots, historic stone on site, and Boonsboro pride are infused throughout the design. #SEIArch #ElementarySchool #EducationalDesign #RenderingToReality Washington County Public Schools

Oakdale Middle School Rendering to Reality
As the architect on the Design/Build team, SEI designed a one-story, twelve-classroom and two science lab addition to Oakdale MS, which integrates fully with the existing building. The alignment offers simplicity of circulation and visibility for supervision and safety. The design’s footprint retains natural light and views into the existing art room windows by developing an outdoor learning environment. A central support spine is anchored at each end by a Collaborative Learning Area intended to offer learners a variety of group sizes and learning activities. #SEIArch #RenderingToReality #ElementarySchool #EducationDesign

The existing Maree G. Farring Elementary/Middle School is located across the street from the Chesapeake Center/Crisp Memorial Church property. Built in 1887, the Crisp Memorial Church is a significant architectural feature of the Brooklyn neighborhood of Baltimore City. To alleviate overcrowding at the existing school, SEI has worked closely with Baltimore City Public Schools to design the new Annex at Maree G. Farring project which will serve students from Pre-Kindergarten through First Grade. This exciting project includes the restoration and reprogramming of the historic church and a new multi-story classroom addition. #SEIArch #Baltimore #EducationalDesign #Renovation #Rendering Baltimore City Public Schools

Eva Turner Elementary School Rendering to Reality
See our designs come to life with our new Rendering to Reality series! Today we’re sharing Eva Turner Elementary School, a 71,064 SF renovation/addition that was completed in 2021. The design rectified the open plan building design by introducing a learning courtyard within the building’s core and flooding the building with natural light and views. The grades are arranged in pods with shared collaborative learning areas offering differentiated learning opportunities. #SEIArch #RenderingToReality #ElementarySchool #EducationDesign

This past Saturday the SEI team enjoyed a picnic with family and friends at the Rock Creek Regional Park sharing great food and creating fond memories! #SEIArch #SummerPicnic

The SEI team gathered in our “volume” space to charrette the façade for one of our ongoing projects. Rochelle Cusimano, Liam Berson, and Daryl Vargas led the charge to spark unique ideas from their peers to garner inspiration for the ultimate design. #SEIArch #Charrette #Inspiration

SEI staff attended the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) Northeast Regional Conference on April 7th and 8th in Washington D.C.! The team enjoyed a variety of educational sessions, toured some D.C. area schools, and we even got to take a stab at axe throwing! Huge thanks to A4LE for hosting this wonderful conference, until next year! #SEIArch #A4LE #Conference

SEI staff took on the “intersection challenge” by first selecting any object someone else designed. With their selected object, they picked an intersection and produced a detail/graphic that describes the object’s intricate assembly. With the challenge accepted, staff used their imaginations and created interesting details of objects such as camera holders and TI-83 calculators!

SEI is currently designing the replacement of Stonegate Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD. The 94,215 SF, three-story replacement school is designed to support all learners while addressing steep topography, safety and security, and green space for community and school use.

After much anticipation, SEI is proud to announce that construction has begun on the Meade High School renovation / addition. Stay tuned for exciting construction updates!
