Children experience all the same emotions as adults, but they aren’t yet equipped with the tools to handle those feelings. The first step toward understanding their big feelings is helping them learn how to recognize and name their emotions. At The Goddard School - Rockville we like asking open-ended questions like “What is something that makes you happy or sad?” or “Can you show me what face you make when you are happy, sad or angry?” This gives children the opportunity to share their emotions and show what they know about them. This exercise had Goddard students using emojis to identify each emotion in honor of World Emoji Day. 😊😕😆😥😴 Give it a try with your little one!

We had a BLAST on our field trip to @me_land_gaithersburg! From climbing, to balancing, to role play, there was a ton of beneficial activities for our students to choose from! Young children use role play to better understand the world around them. They experiment with different characters and through their interactions with other children, they expand their life experiences, practise social skills such as teamwork, sharing and taking turns and they expand their way of thinking!
June 19, better known as Juneteenth, is America’s second Independence Day. Juneteenth celebrations began in Texas in 1866 and have branched out to all states as a time to celebrate the end of slavery as well as honor the culture, achievements and history of Black Americans. How will you celebrate Juneteenth? Tell us in the comments.
WE HAVE THE BEST COMMUNITY HERE IN KING FARM! Thank you to our current and prospective families for making our annual Family Fun Day another HIT! ☀️😁
Professional development enables us as educators to develop the knowledge and skills we need to support children's early childhood journey. During our June staff meeting, we engaged in a "Process vs. Product" training, supporting our teachers in implementing Goddard's learn through play model!
It’s National Play Outside Day! At The Goddard School - Rockville, playing outside is in our DNA. Enjoy this day with your family by letting your child lead. Maybe they want to blow bubbles, make mudpies or go on a bug hunt! As long as you’re outside together, the fun will follow. Check out some fun outdoor play activities that you can do with your preschooler on The Goddard School® website: https://bit.ly/4dYLUt1
We had a great turnout for Take Your Child to Work Day! We had many of our teacher's children come help at Goddard and several students visit their parents at work. This day gives parents a wonderful opportunity to teach their kids about work ethics and the importance of hard work. This special day empowers kids, sparks their imaginations and teaches them some important life lessons!
Yum, yum! Our families and students enjoyed delicious cookies & milk to celebrate Friday! Have a safe and wonderful weekend! 🍪
We ❤️ our teachers at The Goddard School - Rockville, and we also love hearing what families have to say about them, too! Listen to some of the amazing things Goddard families have to say about their children’s incredible teachers. What would you add about yours?
Ms. Stef-our musical leader!
⭐️MARCH SPOTLIGHT⭐️ March is national "Music in our Schools" month! We would like to highlight our phenomenal music enrichment teacher, Ms. Stef, for her fun, engaging and interactive music lessons for our students at Goddard Rockville!
Not only does Ms. Stef teach group lessons, but once we a week our pre-k and kindergarten classroom receive small group instructional music class.
Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words.
Thank you, Ms. Stef! 🤩
Happy International Women’s Day to all of the amazing women at The Goddard School - Rockville and around the world! Find out who these adorable Goddard students love and look up to the most!
Woodwork is a wonderful experience for expressive art and creative design, as it also has the benefit of encompassing many other areas of learning and development, providing a truly cross-circular activity. Mathematical thinking in students is also developed, and scientific knowledge is gained as students construct! Our school maintenance team, Mr. Frank and Mr. Tyler, engaged our kindergarten students with a hands-on learning opportunity, creating little shacks using popsicle sticks and a variety of other building materials! #steam
