I will say, if you want your cucumber plants to keep producing after harvests, pick cukes while they are sizable and green. If you wait too long your cucumbers will yellow and your plant will say goodbye to summer. Where’s the fun in that?

Seriously?!!This sweet potato is the size of our grower’s forearm💪🏾🤩. There are a number of factors that need to occur in order to get a harvest such as this. The amount of sun and water, type of soil and plants, level of care, patience, love💚, timing 🕛and the list goes on. The good news is, not only do we have the whole list, we create and execute the plan. And we love growing year-round here in GA. 👩🏾‍🌾Grow well, Eat Well, Live well🌱

Beans anyone? We harvested beans today and clearly black beans are the most productive. These will be great for taco Tuesday.

Lauren says she’s a better gardener because she can hear plants. They tell her that they need water or more sun. She talks to them too 🤷🏾‍♂️ I can’t argue with that. I’ve been playing guessing games based on they’re appearance for years. You grow girl !!

For Earthday today we donated one of our large raised beds to Roswell High School. It was such a pleasure speaking to the students about gardening as a business as well as growing your own food. We also got some hands on learning in as we planted tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, spinach, carrots and beans. I look forward to both their growth and the seeds they sowed today. Happy Earthday 🌳

Get you some VITAMIN G🌱 The weather is great for vitamin green. Gardening, sprucing and prepping for Spring. I’ll be out getting plenty of green-time this weekend. Just planted, spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts and mint for a lovely lady named Regis, but I have several tasks looming in my garden to get ready for the season. It’s the most rewarding exercise I’ve had ☀️👩🏾‍🌾Grow well, Eat well, Live well 🌱

Wanted to share this plate since it was my first time cooking with kohlrabi. Decided to make my specialty fried rice. Also, this meal wouldn’t have been complete without fresh spinach from the garden. It’s a great feeling when your family loves your cooking and as a result, you can say you are truly a home chef 👩🏾‍🌾👨🏾‍🍳 Grow well, Eat well, Live well🌱

Today is the day, because tomorrow is too late🌱

I’ve been focused on the wrong things. Each day after school I ask, how’d your classes go? Typically we go down the list, Math, Science, Social studies then ELA. But today for some reason, she mentioned after school environmental club. When she brought me up to speed on nearly two semesters of progress, I couldn’t be more proud. She’s leading the charge on planning the school’s flower garden. In addition, their club picks up trash in, and around the school. She’s even taking it further by hosting zoom meetings and working on a mural project to raise environmental awareness. If you haven’t noticed the resemblance already, I’m a proud dad of this amazing 11 year old. Grow well, Eat well, Live Well🌱🌍

Today is my grandmother’s 94th birthday. Our plan to transition her from the nursing home to our home to be spend the day with her grands and great grands has caused me some anxiety given her fragile and bed-bound state. She likes the room to be uncomfortably warm (Always)so if she feels a draft of this cold weather during this very short trip, she’ll find it in her soul to grab a switch off the tree and s***k me. I’m praying this goes well🙏🏾 I’ll be sure to check on my vegetable seedlings and water my plants when the day is over to calm me, but for now it’s all about keeping her safe, happy and warm. 🎂🎈🎉Grow well, Eat well, Live Well 🌱
