NAA is issuing a warning to families & communities. Temperatures are set to rise again this week in various parts of the U.S. With rising temps comes an increase in wandering tendencies. On average, we're seeing 2 to 3 wandering fatalities per week in children with — the vast majority due to drowning. children with autism are at highest risk. If a child with autism is missing in your community, search nearby ponds, creeks, canals, pools, any nearby water *first.* Every parent, dispatcher, and first responder should be made aware of this unique drowning threat that is 160 times the risk compared to typical children. Wandering prevention is especially critical in young children with autism. Please share resources linked in comments.

Although we have in-home therapy available for clients, we still provide the same services and programs that are essential to daily living for individuals on the autism spectrum.
