LESSONS LEARNT FROM PREP THAT I WILL APPLY NEXT TIME ROUND 🧐⚠️
1. START LEANER OR PREP LONGER 🔪 This year I arguably started at too high of a body fat level for the time I gave myself. I started prep at 101kg and only had 18 weeks to pull off what needed to be 20kg of bodyweight. If you want to bring the best possible package to stage I feel you need to be on stage condition early. Pushing my bodyweight up that high was necessary in my opinion in order to reap the rewards of the performance benefits and I plan on doing that again. HOWEVER when it comes round to prep again I will either give myself a few extra weeks or do a pre prep diet to get myself within a closer striking distance of stage condition. This means I can bring a fresher physique to stage with more retained muscle tissue.
2. YOU CAN ALWAYS BE LEANER👀 Majority of the time you think your lean enough when your really not. Looking at the photo above you may feel I couldn’t of got leaner? But I honestly feel I could of stripped of another 2-3kg to get truly inside out shredded. With the possibility of standing on stage next time round in the classic division I will absolutely need to get considerably leaner in order to bring my lower body in more.
3. LINEAR LOAD IN PEAK WEEK 🧠 through trialing different peak week approaches over multiple shows the approach that lead to the best results was a linear load of carbs across the week rather than the fat load and back load of carbs. The linear load provided us with predictable results and allowed us to be in complete control of the look to peak my physique perfectly.
4. PUMPING UP TOO EARLY💪🏼 one of the biggest mistakes I made this year at all of my shows was pumping up too much and too early. You are never usually on stage on time and this led to me over doing the pump up backstage. Which made it harder for me to hold poses and seen my physique fade slightly as the time went on. Lesson learnt to not panic and just relax and do minimal work
My time may not be this year but me and astick are building something special to display on that classic stage next year. Very much done with this dieting phase but got to push for the last few lbs before we enter my most productive improvement phase to date.
