Shoot us a message if you missed the pre-order window! We’ve got oodles of fun stuff growing right now.

Happy 4th of July everyone!
We took advantage of the weather and were busy pulling frames and extracting from our Placerville apiary. See you all Saturday at the Farmers Market!

On this evenings stroll through the farm I spotted a sleepover on one of our sunflowers!

These bees use sunflowers as a safe place to sleep and to shelter from the weather. In our county there are at least 29 species of native bees that visit sunflowers. How cool is that!

You can enjoy these sunflowers in our Farm Box subscriptions throughout the season with many other fun finds. Only two more days to sign up for the July subscription!

Do you know where your food comes from?

Today is harvest day for our wheat!
This is a beautiful bearded variety that will be turned into flour and used in some of our delicious baked treats.

The top part of the wheat is the seed head where the “wheat berries” are located. They are commonly grown as a bearded variety that helps protect the grain with spiky pieces as it dries. Threshing is the process we do by bashing it around to release the grain from the chaff and seed head. Winnowing is next to remove the remaining chaff around the grain allowing the heavier grain to fall back down for grinding.

The entire process is a tiring one but oh so worth it like many families and communities once did several times a year.

You can taste our whole grain goodies in our Farm Box subscriptions throughout the season with many other fun finds.

I apologize for the way our breath may smell for the next week because we are putting fresh garlic on everything!!!

Today was harvest day for the garlic and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Some heads are small and others are large but all are delicious and let’s be real when a recipe calls for 3 cloves of garlic you really need 6….. or more.

Where are my garlic lovers at!?

These will be curing for a couple weeks but you can find these included in our Farm box subscriptions sometime throughout the season with many other fun finds.

Today’s feature: Englischer Custard Squash…Also known as ‘Gelber Englischer.’

Incredible flavor and texture! A new favorite in our kitchen! The fruit is a soft yellow patty pan type, with little to no seeds. Fruit is oddly flattened—with a sweet creamy taste. This unique variety originated in Gatersleben, Germany. It can be eaten raw, roasted, grilled, or sautéed. Our favorite way is oven roasted with some cheese on top, melts in your mouth!

You can find these included in our Farm box subscriptions sometime throughout the season with many other fun finds.

Today’s feature: Striped Armenian Cucumber…… Also known as ‘Painted Serpent.’

Similar to the well known Armenian Cucumber this version has a unique appearance and excellent flavor. Best enjoyed between 8-18”.

Fun fact: Despite its shape, Striped Armenian is not a true cucumber, but is a member of the melon family. Delicious and different.

You can find these included in our Farm box subscriptions sometime throughout the season with many other fun finds.

Today’s feature: Tromboncino
…..also known as zucchetta rampicante.

This is a phenomenal summer squash and if left on the vine a bit longer can also be enjoyed as a winter squash (similar to a butternut).

I think of Tromboncino as the new zucchini. It is gargantuan and has a slightly sweeter flavor than zucchini but best of all the long neck is always free of seeds!

You can find these included in our Farm box subscriptions sometime throughout the season with many other fun finds.

We are dedicated to protecting all pollinators while promoting regenerative agricultural. At its core, regenerative agriculture is the process of restoring degraded soils using practices (e.g., adaptive grazing, no-till planting, no pesticides, no synthetic fertilizers, no herbicides, etc.) based on ecological principles.

This year we are launching a monthly subscription where you can pick up a farm box every week. This subscription is perfect for our customers that are “frequent flyers” or like to try new things that you may not be able to find elsewhere.

Each box will contain:
~ More than 8 pounds of heirloom produce
~ Jar of honey or jam
~ Beeswax product
~ Baked or dried goods
~ Half dozen of eggs
~ Small farm bouquet, when in season

Just a couple more weeks and we should have some farm fresh corn for you that has not been treated with anything…… just water and all the love. I keep drooling just thinking about that first crunchy and sweet bite. Who has ever had multicolored corn maybe for tortillas…. or popcorn…..or just for fun!?

12/06/2024

We have a couple new layers! Can you guess what chicken laid these beautiful white speckled cream colored eggs? They are a bit small right now but are ohhhh so cute! We might stash one in each egg carton this weekend so you can see the cuteness for yourself!

10/06/2024

We’ve missed you guys!
This Saturday is our first market of the season and we can’t wait to see you!

We will have a few new offerings this year that are going to be a real treat for you and your family. Stay tuned, they will be launching this week!

The early morning glow on these duck eggs just made our day! Look at how cute their little nest is 😍

Nothing like freshly made sourdough avocado toast with a fresh fried duck egg to start your day! You can order duck eggs from us for porch pickup or snag them at the farmers market the last couple weekends of June!

Shout out to all the mothers out there, but most of all my mom! 🌸 Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸

I know it never even once crossed her mind that we’d become beekeepers or have a family farm but she has always supported any crazy dream I have had helping make it possible! Truthfully, she’s the glue to our operations ❤️

I can’t tell if she secretly likes it when I say “I have an idea” or she wants to run. 🤣 If you get a chance to meet her this summer at our farmers markets she will surely make you smile!

10/05/2024

Did you know we are not just a local honey producer!?!

We also have some pretty awesome chickens and ducks on the farm and let me tell you they are spoiled. Last month we officially became a certified egg producer and will be offering our rainbow farm fresh eggs for sale as well!

It’s been fun to see literally thousands of plants that we have carefully nurtured (some since January) get planted out and start to grow! And yes there’s still a ton more to plant! 🙌🏻

19/04/2024

Festooning!
Have you ever needed to measure a space or distance but didn’t have a tape? Well if you have a couple thousands friends or relatives it can be just as easy! Just grab ahold of each others hands and measure….Soon enough you can estimate the void like these ladies are doing and fill it!

This swarm has definitely been one of the coolest shapes we’ve encountered so far this year.

12/04/2024

Everybody Poops! 💩
In case you’ve never seen bee p**p, now you have! Today we are in the garden getting a few beds ready to plant out next weekend and we came across this! 🤣 she really had to go… that is all 🐝

🐝 Volume on! 🐝

Spring is in the air!

🤯 This is another ahah moment where literally another phrase I’ve always said totally makes sense now lol. With nicer spring weather the bees become more active and alert their beekeepers that they need a bigger house or less family members 🤣
This beauty was split into four new hives because it was a monster!

When you’re potting up your tomatoes and realize the worms are abundant 😍

We should have almost twenty different varieties for you all this summer! These were all grown from seed with lots of love and care over the past few months. We adore heirloom but love a good snacking cherry tomato and sauce tomato to can!

22/03/2024

🐝 🌼 It’s swarm season! 🐝 🌼

We’ve been busy this past week with rescues! If you encounter a swarm of bees, give us a call or text and we can safely relocate them or connect you with a beekeeper that is in your area. (916) 400-9770

Right now through the end of summer it’s likely you might encounter a swarm of honey bees. With the start of spring, more pollen becomes available for the foraging bees allowing the queen bee to ramp up the amount of eggs she lays. With all the new bees emerging from their cells, the colony grows and becomes too large for the cavity they live in. This triggers the colony to create a new queen and around half of them will leave with the old queen, while the new queen stays and mates to establish a new colony with similar genetics.

Each colony can only have one queen bee. This is a natural process for colonies and bees that swarm are generally docile while they are looking for a new home.

Need a last minute date night idea or gift for Valentine’s Day?❤️

Place an order online for pickup! We have a limited amount of our raw honeycomb rounds and creamed honey this week! Cut the round into bite sized pieces to feed to your honey or slice into cute pieces for your charcuterie boards and dessert toppers. The creamed honey is 100% honey with a velvety spreadable texture.

Sometimes you have to just go for it…
Take the chance on your dream!
This weekend we planted nearly 40 fruit and nut trees on our small family farm. It will take a couple years to fruit but we can’t wait to share the progress with you!

What’s your favorite fruit or nut tree?

09/02/2024

A sliver of sun to lift your mood! The garlic and onions appear to be loving this weather while the bees are still snuggled up in their hives.

✨ Big News✨

Sometimes I get these ideas that turn into dreams that keep me up at night. Having friends and family that accept my crazy ideas and help make those dreams a reality is something I will forever be grateful for (a few not pictured here). Couldn’t have done this without them!

🐝 We plan to start offering delicious fruits and vegetables this season pollinated by our bees (with their honey of course) from our little farm.

🐝 What’s a fruit or vegetable that you wish you could find at the farmers market?
