Starting on July 1, 2024, employers of all sizes will be required to have a written workplace violence prevention plan, maintain a violent incident log, and provide workplace violence prevention training to employees. These requirements will apply to nearly all California employers and employees. Exceptions include healthcare employers covered by the state’s workplace violence prevention plan standard, remote employees working at a location not controlled by the employer, and worksites with fewer than 10 employees that are not open to the public.

The 2024 IRS business mileage rate is .67. I recommend getting an oil change close to 1/1/24 so that your odometer reading is recorded in the event of an IRS audit.

Take a look at the report published by the Census Bureau on 12/20/23 noting the increase in business applications across the US. There is also a downward trend in people pursuing accounting degrees and CPA licensure. What will this mean for all of these new businesses? If you are one of these new business owners I recommend establishing a relationship with an accountant and a tax preparer NOW.
