An alternative to a border wall; an joint international energy park.
What if a border wall could pay for itself? Instead of a wall, build a first-of-its-kind energy park that spans the 1,954 miles of the border between the United States and Mexico to bring energy, water, jobs and border security to the region.
Q&A session on Sunslates5 /Sunslates6
http://aestheticgreenpower.com/products-2/
Q1: What is efficiency? Sunslate5 and SunSlate6 efficiency start the day at par or better than a SunPower module. As the day warm thermal stored in the 6mm Swiss Pearl substrate causes a derating in direct proportion to the heat available.
Q2: In regards to partial shading, for a system using many sunslate modules it would require one Solar Edge optimizer per 10 Sunslates6.
Q3: Is it possible to use the Sunslate6 on vertical surfaces of a building? It is. We have not done that with Sunslates6. We have however done it with Sunslates5. Among our clients with vertical application is Penn State’s Solar Decathlon award winning entry.
Q4: Relating to the previous question, do you have any info on the relationship between efficiency and the angle of the sun? I do not.
Q5: Where I can find sizes? Please see the Sunslates5 installation manual for its specifications
The BITERS is a hybrid system that can harvest solar energy in the form of both thermal energy and electricity. The thermal component is located directly beneath the SunSlates or the TallSlates and as a result the solar modules convert the solar energy into DC power at a relatively high efficiency. All internal systems can be preinstalled in the home prior to the units’ arrival, resulting in a dramatic labor and also insurance saving for the roofing contractor.
We can reduce the demand for fossil fuels and make home heating more affordable by changing the way our homes are heated.
McKinsey and British Petroleum both recently released 2019 outlooks for the global sector, and though both forecast that will grow markedly in the coming years, the results present sharply divergent visions of just how much.
In McKinsey’s forecast, renewables are set to grow to 75 percent of generation by 2050.
BP’s picture of the future looks quite different. Its “evolving transition scenario,” which assumes that policies, technology and cultural pressures will continue to evolve at a speed consistent with their current trajectory, finds that two-thirds of new power generation will come from renewables in the next couple of decades.
But renewables reach just 30 percent share in the global power sector by 2040, even as they overtake coal to become the biggest source of power globally.

BP and McKinsey Agree Renewables Will Be the Dominant Power Source by 2040, but Diverge on Numbers How much of the global power mix will come from renewables in the future? Opinions differ.

Natural gas flaring in West Texas severely under-reported, satellite analysis shows
A study by the Environmental Defense Fund found that oil companies burned off nearly twice as much natural gas as they reported to regulators. The S&P Global analysis that also used data from NOAA satellite scans confirmed the findings. An industry trade group, Texas Alliance of Energy Producers, disputed the findings. https://www.chron.com/business/energy/article/Natural-gas-flaring-in-West-Texas-severely-13562825.php

Renewables overtook coal as Germany’s main source of energy for the first time last year, accounting for just over 40 percent of electricity production. The shift marks progress as Europe’s biggest economy aims for renewables to provide 65 percent of its energy by 2030 in a costly transition as it abandons nuclear power by 2022 and is devising plans for an orderly long-term exit from coal. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-germany-power-renewables/renewables-overtake-coal-as-germanys-main-energy-source-idUSKCN1OX0U2

A Columbia Engineering study, published in Nature, confirms the urgency to tackle climate change. While it's known that extreme weather events can affect the year-to-year variability in carbon uptake, and some researchers have suggested that there may be longer-term effects, this new study is the first to actually quantify the effects through the 21st century and demonstrates that wetter-than-normal years do not compensate for losses in carbon uptake during dryer-than-normal years, caused by events such as droughts or heatwaves. https://phys.org/news/2019-01-climate-sooner.html
Climate change tipping point could be coming sooner than we think: study Global carbon emissions reached a record high in 2018, rising by an estimated 3.4 percent in the U.S. alone. This trend is making scientists, government officials, and industry leaders more anxious than ever about the future of our planet. As United Nations Secretary General António Guterres said a...
In 2018 emissions generated by industrial manufacturing jumped 5.7 percent, according to research firm Rhodium. Those increases drove the 3.4 percent rise in overall pollution, the second-biggest year-over-year increase in the past 20 years. Transportation, which remains the U.S. economy’s largest source of carbon-dioxide, rose about 1 percent. These “forgotten sectors,” as the Rhodium authors call them in their report, together make up about a third of U.S. carbon dioxide, with industrial sources contributing 22 percent and buildings 11 percent in 2016, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-01-08/pollution-got-worse-in-2018-thanks-to-two-overlooked-sectors
Pollution Got Worse in 2018 Thanks to Two Overlooked Sectors In the debate over climate change, the heaviest polluters -- think: power plants, trucks and cars -- get the most attention from policy makers. New research suggests a broader view might be called for.
