With financial support from alumni donors, a group of high school artists recently completed a mural in memory of Country Day graduate Diane Mark Frost. The mural in memory of Diane is located in a corner of the high school quad, between rooms 3 and 4. It covers two walls and celebrates her love of dance and cheerful color. Come out and take a peek!

Country Day 8th Grader Lotte Hofmann had an amazing summer qualifying and competing in the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics in Texas! Lotte is currently placed 35th in the 200 hurdles and 23rd in the 100 hurdles in the country! Her age group is 13/14 so when compared with just 13 year olds, she is 7th in the country in the 200 hurdles and 5th in the 100 hurdles. This was Lotte’s first time competing in Junior Olympics and she loved her experience. Congratulations to Lotte!
Michelle Christian, joins Katie Deterding as our 2024/25 Parents' Association Co-Presidents! They have great plans in store for our community this year, and we thank them for their dedication to our families!

The Summer Olympics comes to a close, but its just the beginning of sports excitement at Country Day. As we gear up for Fall sports, we are reminded by the Olympic spirit that athletics are an important part of the Country Day tradition!
We encourage all of our athletes not to limit themselves to the “one sport” mentality that is prevalent in high school athletics at other schools, and offer a no-cut policy for grades 5-JV, encouraging all students to participate and develop teamwork, sportsmanship, and character.
Here's what makes us #1:
- Most comprehensive program in our league
- Nearly 40 teams across 14 sports
- 80% of our students participate in athletics
- Many alumni go on to play in college
Go Cavaliers!
Olympic Volleyball is Game On! 🏐 Last fall, our High School Girls Volleyball team went undefeated as league champions and CIF Sac-Joaquin Section runners ups for the second year in a row. In the spring, Boys volleyball had their first season as a varsity sport in school history. "Setting" up for some fun days of Olympic and Cavaliers volleyball ahead!

Basketball is always what's happening in the Country Day Benvenuti Gym! During the 2015-2016 CIF Section Championship game, the boys broke the record for points in a championship game for any division.
As part of the Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League, the girls basketball team had a three year stretch of participation in the league playoffs from 2014-17.

Golf is exciting at an Olympic level, and on the PAL and CIF course tour too!
Our High School golf team finished second in the league. We had 5 individual golfers make it to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Divisional Championship. We won the CIF Section Championship during the 2017-2018 season and have qualified for the tournament the past three years in a row. Country Day students from 5th- 12th grade participate on our teams, and who knows, an Olympic champion could be in our midst!
Swimming & Diving is an Olympic highlight!
Our girls' swim team won CIF Section titles in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. Those teams won numerous individual CIF Sac Joaquin Section championships, four individual CIF State championships and had four girls go on to swim at the NCAA Division 1 level. We continue the tradition with outstanding female swimmers at Country Day!
We may not sail or row like the Olympic greats, but Country Day motors our local waterways with solar power!
At SMUD's annual California Solar Regatta teams of students design, build and race their own solar powered boats. They are judged for speed, distance, maneuverability and more. This year, out of 12 teams, Country Day earned second place in the Sprint, third place in the Slalom, and second place in Endurance.
Fencing is On!
Country Day has long been the home of many incredible fencers. William Holz '24 will be fencing at Duke University next year. Irene Jung '25 finished her season this year as one of the top three fencers in the country and officially represented the United States in the 2024 Fencing World Championships in Saudi Arabia.
Country Day alumna Marigot Fackenthal ‘17 led Cornell’s Women’s Fencing Team as the Vice Captain in 2019, earned NCAA Fencing National Championship Institutional Alternate status and was inducted into Cornell University’s “400 Club” which honors varsity student-athletes who achieve perfect 4.0 semester grade point averages.

Wondering what makes Country Day High School feel so good for our students? We asked our recent graduates...
“Being able to be yourself in a safe space and show your weirdness is nice because everyone knows you and there is less judgment…there's not a toxic feeling of getting ahead.” - Juliette, Class of 2024
