If you have a newer car with direct injection, please have a gdi cleaning performed at least every 60,000 miles. (30,000 miles preferably) On older model cars with port/sequential fuel injection, the fuel was sprayed into the intake manifold and mixed with air, then traveled past the intake valve, which also helped keep the valve clean. With direct injection, this is no longer the case, and sludge builds up on the back of the valve until it gets so bad that it prevents the valve from closing. This causes all kinds of engine performance issues, and is much harder to address afterwards because the sludge hardens.
