Let the Holiday parties commence!

Yesterday we kicked off holiday party season with this fun Mimosas and Makers event at 🎅☃️

I love doing Holiday parties because I get to see participants get creative with their holiday decor. I'm a sucker for the classics and typically will only use red, green, and gold on Christmas decor, but yesterday we got to see pinks, turquoise, and even Dodger blue!

Have I told you how much I love getting to see the ways our brides use their wedding signs?

You may recognize this beautiful bride from our feed and blog. and her husband eloped on 1.14.21 and will be having their ceremony and reception with family and friends 1.14.22! Like many brides, Katie's plans had to change due to the pandemic. I'm so glad they did because I've gotten the chance to get to know her and her husband over this past year and have enjoyed getting to see all the beautiful ways in which they've used their sign.

We made it at my first ever DIY Bridal Party, I got to borrow it for a wedding expo, she displayed it at her bridal shower, we'll get to see it at their wedding come January, and one day we'll get to see it displayed in their first house! So many milestones in this couple's relationship and I've had the honor of witnessing them all!

Let's talk tablescapes, centerpieces, and signage! What's important, what's not, and how do you decide what to include?

The answer to all these questions is going to depend on your personal style as a couple and the mood you're going for at your reception. So where to start?

First things first, decide what is the most important element for you and design around that. Do you want eye catching florals that make a statement or will you go minimalist in the flower department? Do you absolutely have to have wood tree slices? What about those gorgeous lanterns that are so pin worthy? Choose what you can't live without first, it'll make narrowing down all your other choices a lot easier.

Now, when you start thinking about what else to include, here are 3 good rules of thumb to help you decide:
1. Vary the heights of the flowers and other decorative pieces you choose.
2. Don't get cluttered! Too many pieces will look cramped. Make sure to leave a few inches between each piece.
3. When in doubt, leave it out. Remember when I said choose the thing you can't live without? Here's why. If you're setting up your tablescape, don't be afraid to not use one of the things you planned on. If heights are too similar or space is getting tight or something just doesn't look right, leave it out. You'll be happier with the result than trying to cram everything in.

Wood As You Wish rentals offers two sizes of table numbers; 5x5 and 7x7, making it easy to vary the heights of your tablescape pieces.

I DIY'd the table decor for my wedding, but if I got married again and needed some help, I'd go straight to her. She does beautiful work!! Just had to give a shout-out 😍

I wish my bathroom had a soaking tub!

At 5'11" I just don't fit into regular tubs. Where are my tall girls at?! 🙋🏻‍♀️😂 Baths are not the relaxing activity they're supposed to be when half your body is cold and uncomfortable. A big soaking tub, possibly with jets, is right below indoor laundry on my list of must-haves for the next house 🙏
