At Pulse3, this is our "why"......

In late 2022, the Saginaw Arts and Science Academy embarked on a journey to achieve a Michigan HEARTSafe Schools designation, supported by Pulse3 and the CMU College of Medicine. Their emergency team underwent trainiing---among them was security officer Greg Price. After completing a successful cardiac emergency drill on site later that year, SASA officially received notification of their HEARTSafe award on June 5, 2023 at 0807.

That same day, roughly 4 hours later, Greg collapsed in the gym while supervising students, suffering from sudden cardiac arrest. Assistant Principal Kraniak and teacher Sophia Gault began life-sustaining CPR, while students ran to retrieve an donated by Pulse3. Minutes later, this provided the shock that restarted Greg's heart, ultimately saving his life.

Please join us in honoring Greg and his lifesaving team at the Shocks and Saves charity hockey game this Saturday, January 27th at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw.

Our Story

Founded by the physicians at the Michigan CardioVascular Institute, the Pulse3 Foundation (pronounced “pulse three”) is focused on providing public education, prevention and treatment programs to improve cardiac health in mid-Michigan (Bay, Midland and Saginaw counties).

Did you know the human heart beats 3 billion times in an average lifetime? That’s a lot of work for one little muscle.

Although the heart is a strong and resilient muscle, it is also vulnerable – vulnerable to disease, genetics and lifestyle. Since 2007, Pulse3 has been making sure hearts keep the beat in mid-Michigan, to ensure each person has a chance to live a full and dynamic life.
