SV Tracy Jean Hot Lap Redux
Bob Cummings Professional Pilot on a 2 Year Sailing Sabbatical.
Ahhhh....well deserved if i say so myself
And just like that, the Hot Lap is complete. 3700 odd sea miles. Too much time fixing things and too little time with sundowners. Lots of great sailing and sunsets, but now to spend some time decompressing and thinking on what comes next.
Beautiful sunset .. 1400 + miles on this sail. Nice way to be finishing it up.
Glorious day on the water!
I gotta say I am not hating this upwind performance. 45 Degrees on the wind with 15 knots of true wind... Low 6's and she doesnt feel overpressed. I can work work that!
At Last, Martinique!
Leaving St Thomas for Martinique. Should be three days sailing, mostly upwind. Pretty island, wrll worth the visit. Wish i could have stayed longer, but alas its onward.
Beautiful anchorage in Guanica, PR. They call it Gilligan's Island. Not sure why but I kept expecting the wrecked Minow on the shore somewhere...
Jonesing for a burger....
Landfall Puerto Rico! In the lee of the island thw weather and sea have turned quite pretty.
Still making way slowly beating to wind. Just reduced sail for the evening. Winds are heading us making it doubtful. I can fetch Culebra with out a tack. We qill know more in 24 hours.
Another beautiful moon. Very light winds and a flat ocean ... thats going to change.
Finally checked out of Dom Rep. Lots of happenings that delayed me for so long but nothing that stops the Hotlap! Happy to be underway again.... such a big moon!
I am thinking St Johns USVI next, but much will depend on how the winds develop over the next few days... time will tell!
Luperon, DR
Some pics for the day. Some good sailing today. Some just waiting for the front to pass.
The winds change and it is time to continue East South East...
Beautiful water + big ole moon = stunning night.
Enjoying a cold Kalik .....
Left the anchorage and departed Great Abaco Island through the Tilloo Cut. Heading to San Salvador Island. Always wanted to see where Columbus first made landfall.
Spending a couple of days at the Hope Town anchorage. If my anchor holds through the night will do a bit of a ground recce tomorrow. If not, got a couple more projects to work on. Marsh Harbour was quite a big town and the people were more than friendly. I am of a mind to head out Friday afternoon for San Salvador Island. Always wanted to go there.😁
Always a treat, french fries, Papa Fritas!
At anchor in Marsh Harbor for a couple days.
At anchor waiting out the storm watching the new D&D movie with Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez. Quite good!
Christmas vacation has come and gone, I'm back on the boat, back to the business of sailing south. Really late in the season to be a called an enjoyable sail. It will be quite the trick making all the easting i need. I suppose we all shall see.
Snug as a bug in a rug.....for 2 weeks.
