Brian Kilmeade from Fox News said yesterday that not getting the vaccine is a personal choice and that the government has no role in protecting the population. “That’s not their job. It’s not their job to protect anybody,” he said.

That violates the opening mission statement of the Constitution itself. The preamble to the Constitution reads: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

When hurricanes, ice storms, fires, Chinese poisoned dog food and terrorist attacks occur we want protection and help from the government. I understand people wanting to be loyal to Trump and their party but without some critical thinking here we run the risk of following leaders over a cliff. I’ve known people personally who were against the vaccine for political reasons and died from it.

The irony is Trump and all serious Republicans are vaccinated. By not getting vaccinated we allow this virus to persist and mutate into more lethal strains. No one questioned the small pox or polio vaccines.

I care about your well being. Ask yourself if the people we follow do as well.
