Time to be serious. Just because you were in the military doesn’t mean you’re ready to go to battle like that most of you have forgotten the logistics of it of air, support, beans, bullets, and Band-Aids. Most don’t even know how to navigate through their own cities, side streets, a strong hold. A Cash for reload or food water. Most of you that say I’m going to go out to the hills and woods. What do you think everybody else is going to go? Where do you think the governments gonna bomb and fire bomb first stop thinking, like the government does Start fighting guerrilla war tactics, train those tactics, regardless of size everybody has a job everybody has a task let’s face it if the Taliban had the education of the average military American did we would’ve been really fu**ed. Instead of talking s**t about who’s wearing a mask and who got the jab, start training with friends or neighbors not your friend and family states away immediate response doesn’t happen

At the legendary Kodokan in Japan, there is a special training undertaken at the height of summer heat, and another in the bitter midwinter cold.

In the first, trainees assemble outdoors during the hottest part of the day and train nonstop for hours as the sun beats down on them, testing their endurance as sweat pours off of them during their labors.

For their winter training, all the doors of the training hall are thrown open in the early frozen hours of morning - in the frigid darkness, students must warm themselves by the fire of their discipline. I have read reports that sweat pooling on the mats would turn to slick ice by the end of training.

This heat and cold endurance training was a staple at the training houses and dojos of judo across the world as it became popular. In more recent years, something happened:

People began to complain about the discomfort, and many or most academies ceased the practice.

In the old days, part of the point was to see who complained, who moaned, and who quit.

These people were not worth transmitting the art to.

This sentiment could never last nowadays, in the world of commodity and capital where an instructor is seen as an employee of the client, and everything comes down to profit margins, but in the glory days of martial training, the seriously dedicated would sacrifice a great deal to learn at the feet of a master.

These trials and tribulations showed who was worthy, who was hard-minded and could handle the discomfort of long hours of training in sub-optimal conditions - because they believed this was training for combat…not simply a sport to be practiced by children after school.

Masters of these arts would engage in gladiator style matches called "dojo storming," where their students would mount an assault on another school to test their styles in full-contact "live" form.

The arts themselves grew out of battlefield tactics utilized in close combat when it was quite literally a life or death situation.

How else should they be trained than with a serious, dedicated mind, in conditions that test the mettle and the tenacity?

As always, life is the same: A training ground. A proving ground for our worthiness, our fortitude, our honor.

Who are we to complain of inconvenience or discomfort?

Who told us life was supposed to be easy, or that we were supposed to exist in a state of bliss?

Yesterday, I found myself complaining about something that had happened - an inconvenience born of the ease of the modern world, really, that I was making a great deal of.

I stopped myself, embarrassed to have given voice to any of it.

It was a lesson, and I was failing.
