And again... 3rd big storm in 3 days. Second one with high winds and power outages. Some homes had not even gotten their power back on from the first one and now we are back at it. Here is the latest.

It's another "morning after" the storm here in the Twin Cities metro area. LOTS of customers without power - that means it's not coming back on quickly. LOTS of additional trees and branches down. If you are a frequent spring/summer traveler or own an unoccupied home for any reason - you need someone who can check on this for you, report back and help with clean up if necessary. Snowy Owl Home Watch is your home's advocate while you are away.

True. We got your back

Smart Homes are awesome when the internet is working. Have a back up plan for when it's not.

07/22/2024

If your furnace goes out, your gas fireplace can be your back up - but only if it starts.
Experts recommend running your gas fireplace for several minutes monthly to make sure it starts.
Why?
* If a gas fireplace sits unattended for long periods of time it may not start for a variety of reasons. Insects (wasps in particular) like to build nests in the exterior vents tripping the sensors. Regular burning helps to prevent this.
* The natural gas can retreat from the line over time making it difficult to get the pilot light lit. Regular burning keeps the gas in the line.
* Batteries in remotes die. Regular running checks function.

Don't leave it to chance. Snowy Owl Home Watch has you covered.

Are you worried about your pool while you are traveling? Valid concern! The pump could stop running, algae can take over quickly and wildlife is always an issue. While Snowy Owl doesn’t handle chemicals, we will report any issues immediately and of course rescue critters. 🐢

This little chippy was making a home in my attic and making a mess in the garage. He has been relocated to a nice wooded area and will hopefully have his family joining him one at a time in the next couple of days. There is no specific season for wildlife moving into the house, attic, basement or garage. You need to stay vigilant year round. Who is keeping tabs on your spaces while you are gone?

06/21/2024

Snowy Owl Home Watch uses industry specific software to provide a detailed digital report to the homeowners after each visit. It is GPS and time stamped. If any issues are found, you will be notified immediately and can view photos in the report. Peace of mind that nothing is missed.

Minnesota summers are no joke. Saturated ground can topple big trees and leach water into basements. Winds that loosen shingles can cause leaks on ceilings and cause water to run down walls. You don't have to be a snowbird to need home watch. If your home is unoccupied it is unprotected. Home watch = peace of mind. Contact to schedule your free consultation today.

The Star Tribune shared this story back in February with some fascinating snow bird history. Why is everyone in Naples? Or Phoenix? Turns out there is a good reason! https://m.startribune.com/arizona-florida-naples-minnesota-snowbirds-retirees/600343995/?clmob=y&c=n&clmob=y&c=n #

Reaccredited.

Snowy Owl Home Watch of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, has earned accreditation from the NHWA for the third year.

Tamara Nugteren never anticipated the pivotal moment that would lead her to create Snowy Owl Home Watch. It all began with a surprising discovery in her long-absent neighbor's house: an owl, trapped and in distress. The struggle to free the bird sparked a realization for Tamara about the many unforeseen issues that can arise when a home is left unattended. Inspired by this experience, she launched Snowy Owl Home Watch in 2022, dedicated to preventing such problems for others.

Today, Tamara takes immense pride in caring for her clients' most significant investment—their homes. She firmly believes that everyone deserves the peace of mind that comes from having a trusted professional watch over their home while they are away. Whether it's for extended travel, homes in transition, or the entire snowbird season, clients rest easy knowing their property is being respectfully and discreetly cared for with the utmost professionalism.

In addition to running her business, Tamara sits on the NHWA’s Marketing/Public Relations Committee, where she contributes her expertise and passion for Home Watch services.

A long-time resident and homeowner in St. Louis Park, Tamara is deeply embedded in her community. She is an active volunteer, a dedicated Rotarian, and an enthusiastic pickleball player. She lives with her husband, Tony, their dog, Bandit, and sometimes their two college-aged kids. Tamara is committed to her community and clients, and she brings this dedication to every aspect of Snowy Owl Home Watch.

Snowy Owl Home Watch serves St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Golden Valley, Edina, Plymouth, Wayzata, and portions of eastern Eden Prairie and eastern Minnetonka, western Minneapolis, and surrounding areas. You can reach Tamara at (612) 388-7868 or [email protected]. Learn more from the website, at www.snowyowlhomewatch.com.

Congratulations, Tamara!

As always, I wish you
Much success,
Jack

Today I rescued a bunny from a deep window well. Florida home watch worries about finding alligators, Arizona has rattlesnakes. I’m happy to work in bunny land. 🥰
