Today we send off ‘Spro Bro Ashley, and let me tell you, I’m feeling BIG feelings about it. Ashley has been a part of the Luminary Team since buildout and is now headed off to grad school to become an INCREDIBLE therapist. While I am beyond words excited for the next phase of Ashley’s life, I’m also sad about losing her as a part of our team. Ashley has always been a pioneer in Luminary’s mission of fostering community. Ashley is an absolute joy, with the most contagious laugh, and she radiates so brightly. She has the uncanny ability to make you feel seen, loved, and validated—and no one writes a love note quite like her. Our team won’t be the same without her, but we know she’s going to make an extraordinary impact in her new journey. Cheers to you, Ashley! 🌟

Oh hey, it’s been a minute! I’m not going to lie. Burnout is real - especially for small business owners. We wear a lot of hats and are constantly juggling 1000 things. When you spend all of your time pouring into other people’s cups (literally) there isn’t a lot left for your own. I constantly tell my staff, you’re a human before you’re a barista. It’s really hard to put yourself first when you’re running a business. Turns out taking time off to reset and recharge does WONDERS for your wellbeing. Taking a little step back to pour into my own cup has given me the joy and excitement I’ve been missing. I love this little coffeehouse. I love feeling like a human again. I have the best staff in the world. I can’t wait to see what’s yet to come. ✨

Howdy! There are a lot of new faces around here and to be honest, I’m not sure I’ve ever done a proper introduction. I’m Danielle and welcome to Luminary Coffeehouse! Luminary is my quarter life crisis ( or Saturn return project.) I created Luminary Coffeehouse in the wake of covid, the chaos of life, and the love of coffee and community. Named after the sun and the moon in astrology, the Luminaries are the guiding lights. The ultimate goal has been and will always be to create a space where everyone feels seen, celebrated, heard, and valued- regardless of how you look or identify. 
Some fun facts about me: 

I’m a Cancer sun, Aquarius moon, and Leo rising! 

My drink of choice is a plain black coffee. When I want something fun, it’s the Kiss of Venus!

I’m obsessed with dogs- I have 2. A chunky black lab named Bowie, & a blind border collie named Bert. They are the loves of my life! 

When I’m not slinging espresso shots behind the bar, you can catch me curled up with my dogs, with my nose in a book.

Hello 2024! I’m still reeling from the roller coaster that was 2023 but I’m feeling excited about the possibilities that this year can offer. I’m hoping to start laying more of the groundwork for things I envision for this space. At the end of the day, I want to pour energy into things that will be well received. So I ask, what are you hoping for from Luminary? Can’t make any promises but I am curious what you have to say!

We will be closing at 3pm today (12/11.) I am solidly a believer that family doesn’t have to be blood related, it can be chosen. I am truly blessed to have a group of friends that are my chosen family and Luminary is closing early because I am hosting “Merry Yule Friends-Giving-Mas!” Luminary came together because of how much time, love, and energy my friends poured into it this summer. Thank you so much for giving me the time to pour back into the cups of the people I love most. We will be back to regular hours on Tuesday! 🧡

We LOVE pups here at Luminary! Handing out pup cups are hands down the best part of our day. Today we met sweet baby, Karma! She is looking for her forever home through 🧡 If I didn’t already have two dogs, I scoop this baby up in a heartbeat. Seriously, she’s perfect and would make such a good family dog! Anyone looking for a new best friend? Karma is your girl! 🧡

Like the true millennial I am, I forgot Facebook exsisted. We softly opened our doors this week! We’re still getting in our groove but we’re making drinks, vibing on the patio, and overall having a great time.

Updates! ✨

Wowowowow. First, I want to say thank you so much for all the love, support, and encouragement. There are truly no words to adequately express how deeply grateful I am. This whole process has been an absolute whirlwind that I'm overjoyed to be swept up in.

Second, day 1 might be done but there is still so much work to go! It's really important to me to create a space where no matter how you look or identify, you feel seen, safe, celebrated, and lifted. The biggest goal of Luminary is to create a community. The are a lot of really crappy things happening in the country (looking at you SCOTUS) and Luminary will be a safe space for all.

Third, the biggest question people have is "When are you opening?" The honest answer is, I don't know. I am working around the clock to try and get the doors open ASAP! Softly, I am hoping to be up and running by the end of the month. Let's hope the planets, fates, and stars all align to make that happen.
