Some of the scenes from my stop on this year’s Art Along the Lake Studio Tour. I’m super impressed but not surprised with how hearty people are coming out in the fog and rain. Thank you, hugely appreciated. I’m open for 6 more days thru Sunday. 10-5. Visit Cook County MN for more info.

Highlight of summer, I installed a 17.6 KW solar system at my parents place. Super fun, passed inspection and they are now powered the sun. Should have done more fishing but I got bogged down with the 2023 National Electric Code. Light reading, grounding is a dark art. Happy summer.

Motorbike trip from Minnesota to Alaska and back. One month, 7500 miles, tent camping. Super fun and alot to process! If I were to do it again I’d leave in June instead of May. Hoping feeling returns to my fingers. If not it was worth it. Long haul moto trips are a good idea.

Wrapping up my summer project. I got hung up trying to decide on what type of railing. I’m excited to put pots out here for Art Along The Lake next month. Not to mention I don’t have to jump out the door to get to my kiln now. Also technically my first project with a MN residential builders license.

Isle Royal National Park. Holy moly this place is a moose theater. After the third moose walked through our campsite I quit trying to take photos and just watched. Other highlights include a family of 7 otters, huge northern white cedar and thimbleberry, and a harrowing boat ride home just to burn it into memory. Incredible. Lora Conwell

Hands are blue. This is lot of fun when there are this many. 80 miles at 80 miles per gallon and I had lunch at a BWCA entry. I’m still fine tuning my setup but moto blueberry picking is working out. 💙

About to pry myself outta here and go see Caribou Falls. I’m pretty much ready, as in one more kiln to unload. this weekend. Small online sale Thursday at 10am on my website as well. See you Friday!

Maiden voyage. A lot of new variables but I’m getting to know my new kiln and I really like it. Looking forward sharing results in person in one week at host

Spring progress, some of what I’m working on for this years in person and online. Pretty fun to be filling up my new studio for the first time but also adjusting to my new reality, that spring doesn’t arrive here until May.

Mugs and new burners. Getting pretty excited to fire my new kiln for the first time. After 20 years I’ve added safety shutoffs… getting older, Murphy’s law. 😏

What is the opposite of buyers remorse called? Buyer’s euphoria? I have that with these great pots from Singewald Brothers show Joe Singewald-Pottery Chris Singewald.

A few years ago I was helping my dad clear some dying birch. I got the crazy idea instead of firewood I should get a chainsaw mill and make the trees into boards. After drying, planing, and more planing, here is my my first go at making some furniture from them. Table and benches made from trees I cut down. I’m super happy with how it turned out. Lora did such a good job on the finish

Art Along the Lake, day 8! First in person show in two years. Thank you all who have made it up here! My people to wildlife ratio is off the charts. I’m open this weekend 10-5.

Burners and the chimney are all that’s left. So happy with how it’s come together. Mostly recycled bricks and the arch bricks were my splurge from Smith Sharpe

New kiln in progress. Really excited to fill this in with bricks and send it to the moon!

Greenwood Lake fire making some ominous smoke clouds yesterday. It’s about 30 miles from here as the crow flies. A little rain today and cooler temps will hopefully help slow it down. Respect to the crews working the fires. .s.forestservice 📸

Any techniques to slow summer down? I’m in the home stretch. Drywall is a real skill and I have respect for sheet rockers - total masters of illusion. This is my second or third drywall project but the first time doing an entire house. Still made time to catch a trout on the paddle board and do a bunch of laps up and down 600 road. New kiln is next.
