Sport and fitness is my LIFE. So much so that I dedicated my college years to playing competitive lacrosse. I spent HOURS everyday in the gym and on the field and worked my butt off to earn first team all American and defensive player of the year. Why is this relevant? I know first hand that for a lot of people, showing up to the gym isn’t just a check mark on your day. It’s what makes you feel like you, it’s what grounds you, and it for a lot of us it’s our home or happy place.

This seminar will review current evidence in the practice of managing back pain and teach people how to identify risk factors. You will also leave with tools and knowledge on how to prevent injury and pain. This workshop is geared toward active individuals looking to optimize their health and pursue their athletic goals while staying safe and healthy!

I often get asked about what is the best posture especially while at work and the truth is… NONE. Our bodies are not meant to be static for prolonged times. Yes, sitting up straight, feet on the floor, equal weight distribution, even shoulders, chin tucked in… these are all great ways to stack your joints and create a centered alignment. But if you sat with PERFECT posture for 6 hours straight, your back would still hurt!! Pay attention to your posture but more importantly CHANGE IT.

✨ One year anniversary of Burg Physical Therapy ✨

1 year since I finally took the dive to quit my full time insurance based clinician role and pursue my dream of owning and operating my own practice.

Many of you know my story - after years in outpatient practice I did not feel that working under the constraints of insurance was allowing me to provide the best care I am capable of. I waited, planned and eventually found the BEST partners to help me pursue this dream.

Working along side the and team has been an amazing journey so far. The coaches are knowledgeable and caring. Together we provide elite services to the st Pete community. Thank you team 🙏🏽

And THANK YOU to everyone who has come through my doors. I have the best clients and patients. You guys work hard when I ask you to and THAT is why we have the success we do.

Pushing hard through your work outs is a great way train your mental game and find out what your physical capacity is. And sometimes when we start to hit the boundaries of what our bodies can do IT HURTS. That lactic acid, muscle fatigued, can’t catch your breathe feeling. And that is good to do! (Sometimes). But sometimes our body sends us a different type of pain signal, and we HAVE to listen. Sharp pain, pain that lasts, and pain that radiates are cues that we need to pay attention. It’s here! Now offering strength assessments using hand held dynamometry. This is an evidence backed device that measures maximum force output. This will allow us to gather objective data on specific muscle groups. We can track progress and compare R and L scores. If you have ever said “I think my right arm is stronger than my left” but you’re not sure exactly which muscles or maybe how to fix it… then this assessment is for you! If you feel like you always catch your muscles ups, snatches or split jerks unevenly, if one leg seems to always nag at you after works outs, or if you feel like you battle recurring “tweaks” or injuries…. Then this is for you!

Yes, growth requires discomfort. If you want to get stronger you have to work hard… BUT your body should not be in constant pain during your workouts. the “no pain no gain” mentality has lead to some really unhealthy habits in athletes.

There is healthy pain that you can push through and reap the benefits

There is also unhealthy pain that is your body’s warning signal for “hey something’s not right”

If you’re not sure which one if your workout pain go talk to your coach or come see me and let’s talk through it!
