Continuing with our WEDU segments, in this one, Dr. Alex Harris shares his top three goals for students enrolled at ACT.

“What is an opportunity if there isn’t a bridge to get to it. When there is a bridge presented to get to it, there needs to be accessibility to resources to help me cross that bridge. And we do all of that: We not only provide the opportunity, but we provide accessibility; we provide the resources through the generosity of those who believe in our mission”- Dr. Alex Harris

All of our teaching artists are professionals currently working in their disciplines. This is important for our program model as our CEO and Co-Founder, Alex Harris, is a musician and singer as well! It's our mission to bring high level arts education to students in a way that they otherwise would not have access. The energy and enthusiasm in our classes is palpable! Here is a class this week where Christian is leading the group of our students in singing drills. The friendships, peer connections, and sense of belonging among students from different schools, disciplines, grades, and communities is another outcome we strive for and are always excited to see! Go Team ACT!

This is Mackenzie, one of our recent ACT alums, teaching her first group of ACT dance students yesterday at John Hopkins Middle School in south St. Pete. Even with her schedule full with college and dancing in a local dance company, at the age of 18, she's also taking time to help other students fuel their passions in dance! We're so proud of her and thankful for her continued involvement in our mission. Dance is one of the 5 disciplines we offer every week at John Hopkins, in addition to monthly Impact Rallies and semester mental health workshops. We love working with the students and staff of this school. Such a great way to strengthen our youth and community!
