Someone would like to give a special shout out to Heidi Sanchez, SPED Teacher at Weddle Elementary. He shares- "There are so many people to give a shout out to, but Heidi goes above and beyond. She has an incredibly complex group of students this year and has stepped up like a champion. She takes on recommendations and follows through with them, even down to things such vision screenings and eyeglasses for her students. She is very open to suggestions from families and other related service specialists. Her students are regularly learning breathing, calming, and regulation techniques and it's helping them in significant ways." Thanks Heidi!

Honoring Mr. Ty and Mrs. Fuhrman from Schirle Elementary School!

"We have a monthly store in our room as well, and Mr. Ty has been finding Pokemon cards and other memorabilia to add each month. So many of our students are motivated by it, will bring in what they have as well, and light up when they get to talk to Mr. Ty about what they’ve collected so far :) He builds confidence in our students, encourages them to be their best selves, makes lasting connections, and has such a positive energy."

"Mrs. Fuhrman picks a new “Would you Rather?” or poll of the day for students to choose from. They get so excited to see what the new one is when they come in :) She has been such a bright and cheery addition to our team, makes us laugh, is calm and patient with our students, and is just an overall joy to work with!"

"We got lucky with these two!"

What are "One Page Profiles" you ask?? These are great tools to communicate important information about yourself to others, including to the team of people who are there to support you. One Page Profiles, also known as Person-Centered Profiles, are positive introduction sheets designed to capture key details about who you are and what you need to succeed and thrive in your environment. We love it when parents bring these tools to IEP meetings to share with their school staff, from the voice of your student, all the great things we should know to make your school the very best place for you and your family!

Find more information, examples, and templates at https://oregonisp.org/1ppa/ as well as https://factoregon.org/person-centered-profiles

We had so much fun with our future kindergarteners and their families! Huge thanks to the staff that supported this opportunity during their spring break.

We will begin scheduling IEP meetings with families during April with the resident school and WESD staff. Please consider bringing a One Page Profile to your IEP meeting so the team can build a great, strengths-based plan for kindergarten together!
