Our dresses are loose enough to wear during pregnancy and have functional buttons for breastfeeding.
Currently 28 weeks pregnant... Scroll to see me wearing the exact same dress a year ago.

We have had a very busy summer. Obviously being pregnant takes up energy and I needed to slow down, and we are also moving this week! Thank you for sticking around while we made changes to the way you order. We will have more openings for orders this Friday, December 1.

In the spirit of slow living, and enjoying our holidays instead of working crazy hours to get orders out in time for Christmas, we are not going to be doing a sale this weekend.

Happy summer! Summer is my (Jolene's) favorite season.

I don't usually have a word for the year, but I do have a word for each season. For summer this year my word is "slow".

I want to savor the minutes instead of counting them. I want our summer to be intentional, mindful, and meaningful. Fighting back against the status symbol of busyness.

What's your favorite way to slow down in the summer?

Linen is an amazing natural fabric that is low maintenance and lasts a long time. Linen washes better than every other natural material while maintaining its quality. The more it's washed, the softer and more beautiful it becomes.

Here are some ways to help you care for and lengthen the life of your linen products. Keep in mind that over washing is not good for clothes, so we advise to only wash your linen items when needed and to spot treat stains rather than wash the whole piece of clothing.

A good quality linen lasts a long time, but in order to ensure they will last for their maximum lifetime it is best to hand wash or machine wash on cold with a mild detergent.

Machine drying on high can cause the linen fibres to break or even shrink. We recommend hanging or laying flat to dry. Even if your linen item is initially stiff after drying, it will relax and soften with regular wearing and washing.

Part of the appeal of linen is the natural crinkle texture that the fabric holds, so for some there is no need to iron linen. We love this texture, but there are times you may want to iron linen. Linen irons best when damp on a medium/high setting. Another way to get a hem to lay flat or to get a wrinkle out is to use a spray bottle and make the fabric slightly damp, the crease should come out with little effort.

Oh hey there! 👋🏻

We've had a lot of new followers recently and want to welcome you to our little spot on the web.

We are sisters, Rosalyn and Jolene.. we are stay at home mamas. We homeschool, love cooking wholesome food and we like plants. We are passionate about helping women wear well fitting clothes.

We started Simply Darling Shoppe in 2019. We started with making girls dresses and have added several different styles of women's dresses and skirts. We are slowly adding more styles, but each one takes time as we make all of our own patterns. Every item is made in our homes in North Carolina.

We grew up sewing our own clothes, sometimes from yards of new fabric, and often from thrifted items that needed tweaking. We helped friends create patterns, sewed wedding dresses, and made dresses in many sizes and shapes. All these years of experience come in handy now, as we work with women and girls of all ages, and in all shapes.

We believe God made our bodies unique, and not to fit a mold. As our bodies change thru the many stages of life, we are here to help you navigate sizing and make a dress that actually fits.

There's fingerprints everywhere. My windows are smeared, my dish drainer is stacked high. There's crumbs on the floor, and it's loud in here. But it's happy squeals while they play with a new birthday toy.

Some days (a lot of days) I feel overwhelmed with all of it. I just mopped last night, but the floor has smudges already. The work of housekeeping and cooking meals seems to never end.

And then I think of my life in a few years when the tiny handprints aren't on the windows anymore. I know I'll miss it. I know my house would be eerily quiet without the sounds of happy play.

So today I'll embrace the messy mundane. My heart is full. My children are happy. They don't notice the house, but they do notice if I enjoy their presence or if I'm stressed about the dirty floor.

What is linen?
Linen is a durable natural fiber derived from the flax plant. The finest linen comes from Europe, and specifically from Belgium, where an optimal climate and rich soil allows for strong, beautiful flax.

Linen is very strong, absorbent, and dries faster than cotton. Because of these properties, linen is comfortable to wear and is valued for use in garments.

Are you ever overwhelmed with gratitude?

Today I'm thankful for a sink full of dishes, healthy hungry children and a warm house. It's small things, but my life would be very different without all of these things.
