FINANCIAL NEWS UPDATE! No matter how you describe it – sticky, stubborn – inflation is still with us. The Consumer Price Index for April registered 3.4% year-over-year, down one tenth from March. The evidence shows we’re still contending with higher gas prices. Strip out volatile food and energy prices, and the year-over-year “core” CPI came in at 3.6%, a two-tenths of a point decrease from the previous month. All this is still a ways from the Federal Reserve’s inflation target of 2%. It is expected to keep interest rates high until later this year, unless inflation sees big improvement. The Fed meets again on June 11-12, just as the CPI data for May is set to be released. #financialnews #newsalert #breakingnews #stockmarket #inflation #interestrates
