We are proud of our SWISD graduates and want to share their accomplishments. ‘Homegrown' is our weekly segment highlighting successful Southwest ISD alumni who grew up in the SWISD community. We also look at how SWISD ignited their success, goals, and careers. This week, we hear from CAST STEM Social Studies Teacher, Bryanna Zamarron.
Zamarron was happy to plant her teaching roots at SWISD. "I really wanted to do my student teaching in the district." She also hopes to teach her students to be vocal and speak up for themselves. "I hope that I instill that in my students, to speak up for others and for themselves," Zamarron said.

The Child Nutrition department will no longer use My SchoolBucks for any meal payments for student/adult accounts. Meal payments will now be processed through Family Hub at https://family.schoolcafe.com/SWISD If you have any questions, please contact the office at 210-622-4380
MySchoolBucks will still be used for student fees, fundraisers, school stories and merchandise.

School Cafe has a Family Hub that provides the easiest and most intuitive way for parents/guardians to access their student's accounts. Within the hub parents/guardians can view or transfer balances, make automatic payments, review purchases, and more.

Alvarado served on the board for many years and has dedicated himself to be an active member of the community. He has strived to be a strong advocate for our schools and students. He explains that it takes hard work and commitment to reach important goals, "It's about working together to accomplish what you want," Alvarado said. During his time as a board member, he had a vision to create opportunities in the district. "What you see right now; that's what my picture was."

During the August 21 board meeting, Ira Chaney, Restorative Practice Coach at Resnik MS, recognized Dr. Jeanette Ball for her support during his time in the Air Force Reserves. Mr. Chaney, who retired in June 2024, shared how Dr. Ball’s support made balancing his roles as an educator and service member stress-free. In a special moment, Dr. Ball was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation.
She also signed a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve, maintaining the district's commitment to backing employees who serve our nation. 🇺🇸

Congratulations to Marti Smith for being recognized as the 2024 Friend of SWISD. The friend of Southwest ISD is someone who dedicates their time and efforts to supporting the district and its school community.
