Jupiter Moon 3 Corsets

After Masuimi passed away, I started digging through the archives looking for my favorite photos of her modeling my corsets. I found these cute behind-the-scenes photos while I was searching for her modeling pics. She was so much fun, and she made friends everywhere she went!

Masuimi, my model, my muse, my friend. We hadn’t seen each other in years, but somehow I miss her more now.
I struggled over how to write this post. I didn’t want to make it about me by posting a picture of her wearing my designs, so here she is with a hamburger. 🍔 That’s how I want to remember her. Not just model-Masuimi, but friend-Masuimi. Nerdy, funny, intelligent, headstrong, silly Masuimi. She saw something in me for some reason, and she wanted to help my little one-woman business to grow. I am so grateful to her, and happy to have known her.
So about the burger. She and Morat were at our house for dinner one night. My husband was barbecuing, and Masuimi followed him around chanting “meat meat meat meat…” 🤣
I wish I could thank her. Not just for the “meat meat meat meat” memory, but for everything else, too.

They say, “do what you love for a living and you’ll never work a day in your life,” but they don’t tell you that it could also go the opposite direction, and what you love might turn into something you dread. Hello, my friends! It’s been a long time, I have neglected you all for far too long!
Ever since this little creature entered my life, I don’t think I have made a single corset. She will be three at the end of the month, so it has been at least that long.
So last month when I was making this corset* for Alice’s Halloween costume, I decided it’s time to officially announce my retirement from corset making. I lost my inspiration for various reasons, even before Alice made her grand debut in 2018. But I am the kind of soul who can’t function without art in my daily life, so you can still follow my other page. I just started a brand new page: Jupiter Makes Things , where I will consolidate my other art- drawings, paintings, clothing, resin crafts, miniatures, painted rocks, sculptures, and a myriad of other crafts.

It has been an honor, my friends. I enjoyed the time we had together, but there are plenty of other worthy, quality corset makers out there, you will be happy in their hands. Thank you for 20 great years!

* Disclaimer- the “corset” pictured here is not a functional corset. I made it in a similar way, but it doesn’t cinch, it’s just fitted. Even a little big actually… She’s the cutest fairy princess there ever was!
