With full tummies, bedtime treats, cuddly blankets & beds, our can sleep easy tonight – and every night – under the mantle of comfort & freedom provided by our armed forces. They also have a SPECIAL admiration & appreciation for their fellow canines, who so bravely serve alongside their soldier handlers, and recognize the sacrifices THEY make on this !

When you're the Skinny Rocker with a blooming Green Thumb, EVERY day is ! The plentiful plants filling his home, studio and landscape attest to the joy & nourishment they bring to his soul! And maybe they could do the same for you...so DIG IN!

Definitely for a worthy cause, and we're ALWAYS impressed by unique Guinness records...but as for the "highest" ever, we guess this week's is all about HOW you define "high!"

As is well-known, our Skinny Rocker is quite the night owl & as many will be retiring soon, JJ is just getting cookin'! However, our night owl has been evolving into more of an early bird lately. That said, the ONLY thing he will probably into Sunday (& Monday...Tuesday...) will be a GIANT cup of caffeine, since begins tonight!

First, there was the movie "Network" as a farcical harbinger for the shape of television. Then, it started to become "REAL" after the unexpected success we remember in this week's !

The origins of some monikers & nicknames seem pretty obvious...such as "Ol' Blue Eyes" for Frank Sinatra, "JLo" or "Jenny from the Block" for Jennifer Lopez, and even our own "Lone Star State!" However, do you know why the USS Constitution was called "Old Ironsides" or our Skinny Rocker was dubbed "JJ"? Well, gives us a chance to shed a little light! The British actually claimed their shots merely bounced off the Constitution‘s sides, as if the ship were made of iron rather than its extremely dense live oak wood. And, as for our "JJ"...when he started out as a part-time, young whippersnapper, he was affectionately called the "Junior Jock" or, JJ for short!

The record high temps earlier this week buoyed the Skinner Rocker's optimism for pool days soon. However, since the Texas weather decided to give winter one more shot, apparently on THIS he WON'T be "leaping in" to his backyard oasis!

Yet, as we honor George Washington & Abraham Lincoln today on , we're reminded of their vision of this official presidential residence being truly "The People's House"...despite the fact Washington never actually called this address home!

Interestingly enough, this year's happens to fall on ...since BOTH days can be filled with mythical figures, over-the-top disguises & identities, and a certain degree of "mystery!" So while our Skinny Rocker probably won't be donning any carnival masques, he CONTINUES to be known as "JJ the Skinny Rocker!" Right, Kris JJ Huschka?!?

When we hear , we picture an adorable canine trio. However, this was a solo act UNTIL six years ago today, when two forlorn street pups followed the Skinny Rocker Family home from an afternoon walk with Shiner – known then as the ! The inseparable pair, henceforth from this memorable , became known as Sammy (the Red Rocker) & Taco, and the rest is internet history!

While our world-famous will not be in the stands at Las Vegas, they WILL have front-row seats for ! HOWEVER...Taco heard "super bowl" & is looking for the treats to fill this oversized dish, while Miss Shiner is unleashing her inner "Swiftie" hoping catch a glimpse of Taylor, but our Sammy is ACTUALLY here to root for the Skinny Rocker Family home state of Kansas!

Many tend to think the is synonymous with ...and, in a way, it IS! The former is ACTUALLY the over-arching holiday celebrated by Asian cultures worldwide, whereas the latter is ONLY in China...sort of like a thumb is a finger, but not all fingers are thumbs! However, they ALL share common celebratory customs & traditions!

On a wintry Midwest night 65 YEARS ago, an ill-fated flight took off from the Mason City (Iowa) airport – about three-and-a-half miles from the Surf Ballroom – with musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens & J.P. It seems fitting for the annual celebration of to occur on the heels of the Kansas City Chiefs' victory yesterday. However, aside from these gridiron champs, most people only have a vague notion of our 34th state...sunflowers, Native Americans (that's where the Chiefs got their name, riiiight???), flat prairies – OHHH – and tornadoes & that movie with a little dog and some ruby slippers. But, Kansas has ANOTHER claim to fame, as the home state of our own Skinny Rocker!

With the beginning of the New Year & MLK Jr. Day, our regular took a back seat! But, we're back behind the wheel & driving a Chevy to the levee this week!

Although the idea of being a DJ (and, for those of later generations, that stands for disc – as in vinyl discs – "jockey") might sound like a "cushy" job, the truth can be a mixed bag. Odd shifts & formats to get your "voice" in the door, juggling music with required spots & station IDs, notoriously low pay simply for the chance to be "on-air talent"...all while making it sound fun & effortless! And, our Skinny Rocker has been there, done that, AND has the T-shirt, all to hone his professional skills. For an entire career of being a "Jock" we sing his praises on ! Oh, and it's a bit of serendipity this day coincides with , because knowing which songs offer enough time to grab another mug of coffee lets you can keep the airwaves ROCKIN'!

We know the Skinny Rocker is a man of simple needs: some good tunes, sunshine in his plant room, T-shirt & flip-flops weather, AND a good cup o' Joe! BUT...when it comes to the "beanage" for his caffeine, he becomes a connoisseur worthy of note on this !
