I started what I considered real life training 1 April 22 with my business partner at . Real life training isn't a classroom or hand holding. It's just real life and you pass or fail lol.
I needed to learn how to establish and run a dedicated lane out and back. I named that training "The Haven Lane" short for Hot Shot Haven (YouTube).
That lane is a grueling test of your mental, physical, and emotional fortitude as equally as your ability to safely operate a semi and a stepdeck. After 16 days (12 days of working) I was back in Texas with a pile of money I hadn't ever made in that period of time, in my life. Big shout out to Johnathan Butler - owner Noble Enterprise.
Somewhere along the line I thought it would be fun to see how much I could make from the time I began the run to the Haven Lane (from Texas) which began 1 April 2022. I started using the existing hash tag .
From 1 April to 23 August 2021 I ran 38 loads, from Texas to Pennsylvania and New Mexico and a lot of places in between. Gross trucking freight sales were $74,845. That's 144 days (all days including being sick with COVID, truck downtime and days of rest).
After all expenses including outrageous diesel prices, skyrocketing commercial insurance, registration, maintenance fees, a contracted driver for a short period, I estimate I walked away with half of the gross sales ($37,422). So for all days (rest, sick, downtime) I came away with about $259 per day in 144 days.
I'm very interested to see how many actual working days I had but haven't tallied it up yet. I estimate I worked just 75% of those 144 days. There were some gaps in time when I was frustrated with rates, truck was being worked on or just sick as a dog and couldn't run. LIFE also happens.
Challenges ahead! Rates are trash, volume of freight is inconsistent, insurance is high and diesel is only slightly discounted from highs of $5/gallon in Texas. My answer in good times and bad remains the same:
"Let's see what happens." 😁
Till then I ask for your prayers and all we need is 💪 and provided by the Lord. God 🙌.
I got a 13 speed and a paper log book.
You already know...
I-20 thru Shreveport...seriously, going 40 mph! It's the only way to save the truck/freight!
Same EXACT thing ... 😂
This right here. When you merge onto an Interstate look EARLY and JUDGE your speed. Looking late can result in a crash because you don't have time to speed up or slow down. It's YOUR responsibility to merge, not mine!
WATCH: Will four wheelers ever learn to merge? Two four wheelers fail at merging with unfortunate consequences in this video.
All.the.time. Been out on the road now 5 week$.
🥴
Crack of Dawn again. Y'all have a blessed day.

Keep on Truckin.
Port of Oakland urges truckers to end AB5 protest Port of Oakland officials are imploring truckers to end their protest over AB5 as the independent contractors prepare to block the terminals for the fourth day on Thursday, bringing container movement at California’s third-largest port to a standstill.
Got to use the ramps for the first time! Took these little guys (mini excavators) from Virginia to Georgia and Alabama. They were 12,000 lbs each. Nice light load to go back down South.
Frieghtwaves predicted a "Trucking Bloodbath" they said.
Well, thru the ups and downs, we're still here today - and God willing tomorrow.
