La 2ª edición del Pepe Romero Guitar Festival · Málaga ha sido una gran emoción para mí. El reconocimiento de mi tierra me conmueve. Gracias a todos los grandísimos artistas que han participado. Gracias al Ayuntamiento de Málaga y al Sr. Alcalde
Paco de la Torre, que tan trascendental ha sido y es su labor para Málaga. Gracias también a la Concejal de Cultura, Mariana Pineda, la Directora General Susana Martin Fernandez y Antonio G. de Castro. También a toda el Área Cultura Málaga.
Gracias a su director, mi querido Vicente Coves Merino por su grandísimo trabajo por la música y la guitarra española y a la promotora del festival la European Guitar Foundation. Pero sobre todo, gracias Málaga. Os quiero y siempre os llevo en el corazón y cada nota que hemos dado desde que en 1957 salimos al mundo mi querida familia y yo, suena a Málaga. Nos vemos en la 3ª edición, en muy pocos meses.

We will celebrate together the Spanish tradition of the guitar that began with Francisco Tárrega, his students, my father, Celedonio Romero, all representing a truly Golden Age of the Spanish guitar and her heroic composers and players.

Celebrando y recordando en su cumpleaños nuestra maravillosa madre, Angelita, que sigue guiandanos

Heike Matthiesen has left this world and we have lost a beautiful human being and a champion of the guitar. For as long as I have known her, Heike has dedicated her entire life to serving music and the guitar with enthusiasm and never-ending passion, full-heartedly and without reservations. I never once heard Heike say a negative comment about any of her colleagues. She was a wonderful artist and inspired musician with deep insights into the music and composers. She tirelessly concertized and recorded and navigated herself through the challenging career of concert guitarist with passion and truthfulness. In our last conversation we had just a few days before she lost consciousness, she told me how grateful she had been to music and the guitar for all the joy it had brought her and that while trying to live in harmony with her devastating illness she had some of the most joyful times recording the music of great women composers of the guitar. And she talked about all the projects that lay ahead if she was granted the time to do them.
Heike was brilliant, brave and a loving person and we will all miss her presence. My love and compassion go out to her wonderful mother, Inge, her sister, Anskje and to the many friends that loved her.

Me emociona mucho estar aquí en sala Unicaja de Conciertos Maria Cristina en Málaga donde tocó mi padre Celedonio Romero su primer concierto en 1932. Hoy toco para él en la guitarra no.310 hecha por mi hijo Pepe.

The new guitar concerto "Wayfaring" by David Leisner was premiered and received with great enthusiasm and love! I am happy to tell you that I love it! My deepest gratitude to Brian and Tammy Hays for commissioning the work, composer David Leisner, Maestro Michael Palmer, conductor, The TH•FM Hamptons Festival of Music and the New American Sinfonietta for making this an unforgettable experience! I celebrated today with a walk to the beautiful beach here!

We had a fantastic first rehearsal of "Wayfaring" by David Leisner with Michael Palmer, conductor, and the new American Sinfonietta. Looking forward to sharing it with the public tomorrow!
