We are very pleased to welcome film and stage actor Jesse Borrego back to the Guadalupe dance stage for the 30th anniversary of “Rio Bravo” tonight, September 20 and Saturday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Buena Vista Theater, UTSA Downtown Campus. Thirty years ago, “Rio Bravo” featured Jesse in a pivotal role throughout the production.
This captivating performance of “Rio Bravo” will feature Jesse Borrego, the Guadalupe Dance Company and Mariachi Azteca de America. This Celebrando Tradiciones performance unfolds through five chronological suites of dance, showcasing the vibrant music and dance traditions of the Texas-Mexico border region. This unique production takes audiences on a journey through time, exploring the rich cultural heritage and artistic expressions of the area.
Audiences in attendance will be part of this milestone event, which will be filmed live on both nights, courtesy of UTSA College of Liberal and Fine Arts. The film shot in 12, 4K camera angles, will be available for educational purposes and used for future screenings by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at Buena Vista Live site. Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center members and AARP Texas members are eligible for an extra special pre-sale discount and should contact Guadalupe’s Latino Bookstore at 210-271-3151, extension 250, for more information. Celebrate with us, San Antonio! Today marks the 33rd anniversary of our Guadalupe Dance Company, which had its first debut on September 15, 1991 for the Diez y Seis de Septiembre folklorico performance. 🎉💃🏽 33 years later, we still have members from our original company teaching the next generation of dancers including Jeannette Chavez, Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center Dance Director. Congratulations and happy anniversary!
