The Art & Writing of Ricardo Acevedo. 50 yrs of dancing with my id. Jazz smoke filled drug ambrosia ala the natural & urban world. We don't live a life of only one active sense. We move through the world of ever varying, visual, sonic and... emotional landscapes that we congeal into our art if we are so blessed (or cursed) with the calling. I have always felt the calling to the arts. It's in my bl

I counted my years
and found that I have less time to live
from here on than I have lived up to now.
I feel like that child who won a packet of sweets:
he ate the first with pleasure,
but when he realized that there were few left,
he began to enjoy them intensely.

I no longer have time for endless meetings
where statutes,
rules,
procedures and internal regulations are discussed,
knowing that nothing will be achieved.

I no longer have time to support the absurd people who, despite their chronological age, haven't grown up.
My time is too short:
I want the essence,
my soul is in a hurry.

I don't have many sweets in the package anymore.
I want to live next to human people,
very human,
who know how to laugh at their mistakes
and who are not inflated by their triumphs
and who take on their responsibilities.

Thus human dignity is defended and we move towards truth and honesty
It is the essential that makes life worth living.

I want to surround myself with people who know how to touch hearts, people who have been taught by the hard blows of life
to grow with gentle touches of the soul.

Yes, I'm in a hurry, I'm in a hurry to live with the intensity that only maturity can give.

I don't intend to waste any of the leftover sweets.
I am sure they will be delicious,
much more than what I have eaten so far.

My goal is to reach the end satisfied
and at peace with my loved ones
and my conscience.

We have two lives
and the second begins when you realize you only have one. "

I don’t believe in magic, I know it intimately. Hell, we’ve gotten drunk together, done drugs stayed up all night. It’s dated my brothers and sisters. Broke their hearts, abandoned them at the altar. While others it made saints mad on the drug of creation.

Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

It’s hard not to feel something of Americas past and future on a day like today. I have a heavy heart knowing all the injustices committed on African Americans, but I am full of love and respect for all of the things they have brought to the fabric of our country. Truly the phoenix rises. I celebrate you all.

“We are not mad. We are human. We want to love, and someone must forgive us for the paths we take to love, for the paths are many and dark, and we are often ardent and cruel in our journey.”

“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”

“Love casts out fear; but conversely fear casts out love. And not only love. Fear also casts out intelligence, casts out goodness, casts out all thought of beauty and truth.”

always worth a repost...

In the midst of hate, I found there was, within me, an invincible love.
In the midst of tears, I found there was, within me, an invincible smile.
In the midst of chaos, I found there was, within me, an invincible calm.
I realized, through it all, that…
In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.
And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.
