The final deals of the year !
End of YEAR DEAL!!
It’s that time of year !! BLEMS are available. These antennas have the same quality and care when making! But somehow we made a boo-boo! They can have a very small flaw to a glob of shiny glue. They all perform the same as all our antennas. They are cosmetic flaws, not performance flaws.
12 days! Of deals … if you plan to order more than one day. Shoot us an email so we can save you some shipping cost !
We did some antenna testing ! Did you know our antennas work with off road radio handheld systems !
First time we have ever held a sale ! To thank all our customers !
Always makes our day better, when this gal stops by.
When you are organizing and you run across the old school stuff! “Pop” took this to all the shows ! # #
The Smiley Antenna Company has developed an outstanding flexible antenna that will simply screw into several antenna bases to fit Motorola, Tempo, Standard, Wilson, RCA, Repco, GE and all other transceivers using BNC, TNC, MX, SMA, or PL-259 connectors. See the chart below for easy reference to your radio need.
User friendly: All bases field changeable for radio. In-use connectors can be ordered separately. .
We make it easy to choose an antenna from Smiley Antenna. You can pick accurately by the terrain you intend to use the antenna in. .
Learning how it all works ! All Smileys Antennas are hand tuned and checked before they are shipped out. WE love nothing more than watching “the grandkids” learning.
We love nothing more than teaching the next generation. This girl was up at 5:00 am for varsity volleyball practice from 6-8 am and in between her morning and afternoon practice she’s here learning..
Almost 40 years ago Bill Smashey and Don Smiley bought out the Tuned Antenna Company. Between Don and Bill, they perfected a company that specialized in tuning antennas that were made out of the finest materials. Coils are made out of steel that are made special for us by a company in San Diego. The coils are copper plated causing radiating elements to maximize power to communicate unlike un-plated elements that have a high resistiveness to RF energy and causes dielectric losses. These coils are dipped in a synthetic rubber to provide a weather seal, as well as a dielectric constant and mechanical web effect between the coils of the spring preventing any distortion of the coil. When heated to the outer covering of NEO or TA exclusive NT-MIL special space age covering, this NEO is baked on to provide the most rugged yet flexible HT antenna available today.
The tuned antenna bases are all flow soldered assuring excelled electrical connection, plus double protection at point of maximum stress. The Smiley Antenna Company has universal bases that fit most radios; the bases are nickel plated brass (not steel), preventing dissimilar metal oxidation or rust. Our Antenna can be fitted to over 10 different connectors, such as BNC, TNC, and SMA. At Smiley Antenna Company, we manufacturer our own bases.
Using the Smiley Antenna system, you have a flexible antenna that gives you a good signal.
Still HAND TUNED AND HANDMADE IS THE 🇺🇸 USA…
Oh do we all miss this man so much. Hope we are making you proud POPS! Can you believe almost 4 generations and still strong !
Everyone’s favorite $25 radio, the Baofeng UV-5R pictured with the superior Quansheng TG-UV2. Both outfitted with Smiley Antennas.
That was until I found Smiley Antenna. Their handheld antennas are every bit as rugged as anything used by .mil, maybe even more so. They are more stout than anything else I’ve found on the commercial market and through many commo and small unit classes, hunts, and private training sessions, I’ve run them on my kit with a few different brands of radios. The biggest thing to note, aside from the thick, overbuilt nature, is their flexibility. Stock whip antennas, even the higher quality 14-inch whips many people upgrade their Baofengs with, only have so much flexibility before they’ll snap. And the base is not made for a rugged environment. To be fair it wasn’t designed to be either, but if you’re planning on possibly needing that radio in a tactical role, the most basic upgrade is a more robust antenna. I’ve broken two of the chinese-made long whip antennas, while the long whip VHF from Smiley has survived a long while just fine.

Well made, delivers expected performance Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Two things caused me to get this antenna. First, I read a good review of another HT antenna made by Smiley. Second, there was a very interesting article in a recent issue of QEX looking scientifically at the performance of various HT antennas, and half-waves came out looking very good.
This antenna is available in both BNC and SMA versions. I originally got the SMA for my VX-150 and not too much later got the BNC version for my IC-T2H Sport. An older ham had warned me about telescopic half-waves being hard on the HT's antenna connector, so I was pleased to find that this model is somewhat flexible at its base, thus helping some with this problem.
The SMA version I got had some residue on the whip portion, making it initially hard to extend it, but some mineral spirits (applied carefully) took care of that.
I ran some seat-of-the-pants tests with a field strength meter in my basement. As expected, the half-wave did better than ducks. I found that this antenna seemed to radiate about the same amount of power as a Diamond SRH-77CA when a quarter-wave tigertail (counterpoise) was used, and these were the winners in my ad hoc comparisons. Since the center of the half-wave would be higher in normal use, it might have a slight edge.
When doing public service events I tend to use external antennas (most often a homebrew encased J-pole or an Elk Antennas dual-band logperiodic, depending), but I think this half-wave telescopic will suffice in many situations. I use my T2H on my bicycle with another encased J-pole (a "Jurassic Duck"), but I will keep my BNC version of this antenna in the handlebar bag as a backup.
I carry the SMA version along with my VX-150 in my work briefcase, so I'm ready if there is an ARES activation. My ARES group's repeater is some ways away from my office, but I have no problem hitting it with low power and this antenna.
In summary, these give the expected performance of a half-wave and are convenient. From what I can tell, their construction quality is first rate, too.

We LOVE reviews !! I’m not shy about expressing my opinion if I feel that I’ve been wronged by a company or product. Amateur Radio operators are the ultimate social network. Hams talk — quite literally. If you market a product or service to hams, you must be prepared to have every aspect put under a microscope. If you create poor products, or don’t stand behind them, you had better be prepared to find another line of work. While I can think of a couple of examples in our hobby where crappy companies continue to survive, it is mostly due to the lack of a suitable replacement. While I’m quick to complain, I’m also quick to offer up well deserved praise.
Enter Smiley Antennas. I’ve been buying their products for many years. They are well constructed, high quality, and customer service is always top notch. If you’ve never purchased one of their antennas for your HT, I believe that you are really missing out. In fact, whenever I buy a new or used HT, the first thing I do is throw away the stock antenna and replace it with a Smiley. Their 270A Dual Band antenna is small, sturdy, and really makes a big difference, especially when I’m trying to hit those distant 440 machines. In my opinion, it’s the best $22 you can spend to improve your signal.
I recently had a need for a customized HT antenna for a very specific application. Within a week of ordering it, I had it at my door. A custom HT antenna built to order. Incredible.
I couldn’t recommend this company more. Check them out at http://www.smileyantenna.com or you can call them at 1-800-527-5439.
It’s always a pleasure to recognize publicly a company that goes above and beyond.
