I got to go watch the second day of the Ingrid Klimke Masterclass this past weekend, and there were so many great nuggets of wisdom! 🤩 Her love for the horses was so clear, and her dedication to the classical training principles is so inspiring! This has been a popular topic amongst my students in training lately, and it was so refreshing to hear the reminder from Ingrid as well - WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES. IT’S OK! Don’t be afraid of the mistakes. EMBRACE them. I loved how Ingrid went on to encourage us to change our way of thinking about “mistakes”, by recognizing instead that “it’s a moment where the horse tried, and just gave the wrong answer”. I thought this was a beautiful way of thinking about it. I encourage my students that it’s ok to make a mistake because I want them to be comfortable enough to experiment and use their own feel in front me. It’s the same for the horses. It shows me you’re trying! When you try to cover up or prevent a mistake from happening, you’re likely over riding which is going to lead to more tension and frustration. By allowing mistakes, it shows me what’s truly going on between horse and rider, and that we’re getting somewhere by pushing out of the comfort zone. Of course we don’t want to push too far into the panic zone, so then we slow down and take the time to explain what’s happening to develop a better understanding. ✨ “Mistakes” are where the learning happens. ✨ 📷 @evangrooms #dressage #dressagetraining #dressagehorse #dressagerider #alwayslearning #horses #horse #equestrian #equine

Her next goal is joining the YouTube Partner Program. That will mean 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours. She’s at 475 subscribers! We think we can get there in February!

- Whenever you think you can’t, keep going, turn that “can’t” into a “canter” and then you’ll be cantering through all your challenges towards your goals

Leo wants us to know that he and his buddies are just like everyone else and are able to do anything like anyone else! And in Leo’s case, that means caring for and loving horses as much as possible!
