New technique in the process !!

I’ve been thinking about how even if I know something to be true, I need to learn it over and over and over again. Part of that process is knowing it in different contexts, from different voices, in different ways.

I’m experimenting with the reiteration of truth through various forms of text in this piece. Sometimes when I hear a good piece of advice from a friend, it starts to come up in my life in many different ways. Kind of like when you learn about a new word or a new concept and then you start to notice it everywhere.

Being present is a practice. I will never reach a day where I can say I’m always grounded in the moment: I have to continually remind myself.

I quit my job at TBS (New Alternatives Inc) last week.

I was working with kids in the San Diego and I honestly loved parts of the job, but I felt so unequipped to help the clients and families as an artist with no background in psychology/social work.

I have so much love and respect for the people who do this incredibly impactful work day in and day out. It is so needed. Unfortunately, the time just wasn’t right for me. I needed a change.

I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’ve just launched my first gig to start freelancing back in the design world. We’ll see what happens - link is in my bio if you’re interested.

A huge thanks to my friends & family and my fiancé for all the love and support they’ve given me in the past few weeks 🤍

after graduating from college I’ve been trying to stay connected with friends and family by being super intentional and reaching out consistently. Anytime I have a tough day or if im feeling isolated I try and reach out to someone. Usually it helps :)

Almost done with my second utility box for 🥳🥳

I’ve been loving this kids-book style nautical theme - graphic black against vibrant contrasting colors👌🏼AND the chromatic aberration that the red gives with the teal - color theory continually blows my mind !!

Portfolio Review a few weeks ago was such an incredible celebration of my classmates’ work - the senior class of 2023 is full of such impactful and diverse talent!

The event was also a rewarding networking opportunity to meet with working professionals in the San Diego art & design scene. I had the priveledge of having my work reviewed by - I am so inspired by her work as we share themes of mental health, healing, and empowerment in each of our art practices. It was lovely to chat with a badass like her and get to know her journey towards becoming a professional muralist and surrealist painter. Thank you to everyone who made this day so special!
