If you've been in recently, you've probably noticed some of the new faces around Heal Thy Goddess! This Spring, we welcomed on 2 new
practitioners to our team.
It's been many moons in the making that I've been curating this team of uniquely qualified individuals who have a passion for holistic beauty & healing arts. I want to ensure you all that each person has been personally trained by me- days and days of one on one training to guarantee that our client list receives the same level of quality experience, no matter the
practitioner. Everyone uses the same products (Laurel, Agent Natuer, Josh Rosebrook) and uses many of the same modalities & techniques, while still adding their own unique approach.
Iām honored to have these incredible women working alongside me š
Hot tip- if youāre an esthetician, keep your nails short short for optimal client experience. Please donāt be doing facials with long nails š«£

Iāll be breaking down everything about lymph in an easy & digestible way to understand at āIntro to lymphā on 3/23 @ 1pm pst via zoom š
How did you get to specializing in lymphatic drainage?
Well, many years ago (7? 6?) A first time client walked in. And said, ādo you know how to do lymphatic drainageā¦I just want lots of massageā I said okayyy I gotchu girl. I was never a āletās burn your face off with this level 3 jessner peelā kinda esthe lol, but I was the girl for massage!! I had just finished massage therapy school &everything was fresh in brain, so I was excited to do something different.
So I focused on massaging, opening up the lymph pathways in the neck and clearing the lymph nodes. Gave some extra lovin to her face, and boom. She got up and said WOW, nobodyās ever massaged my face like that before??! I feel like my lymph has ACTUALLY been drained!. WTF. Iāll be back next week-
I remember thinking, like, no girl next week is kinda soon? I think a month will be fine? And she was like nope! Iām coming in a week! And I was like ummmmm okš
A week later, she walked in puffy asl and I was like ā???? š¤???ā lol. And she had explained to me how she had a double jaw surgery and so she gets really puffy and the massage is the only thing that helps.
And just like that, right then and there I ~knew~ I was onto something, that THIS was my *thing*; Combining my massage knowledge with esthetics. My specialty became FACIAL massage & lymphatic drainage. Delivering results to clients hoitcally via touch, I began to see amaaazing results.

The benefits are endlessāØ
One of the reasons I wanted to offer a Gua sha workshop for professionals, is because I see so much misinformation out there. It gets to be confusing- go up the neck? Or go down the neck? And what about practitioners not even involving the chest?
I notice that while Gua sha has blown up over recent years, thereās been misleading information put out by beauty influencers or the like. Which you know, that happens with the internet. But the problem is that *professionals / estheticians* watch a few YouTube videos by someone whoās just showing a little DIY for at home and then they go and perform Gua sha on their clients without a background knowledge or understanding of contraindications or how to approach different skin types/skin conditions etc etc.
And donāt get me wrong, thereās plenty of great information and videos out there on how to do Gua sha on ~yourself~ But for professionals to watch a few YouTube videos and then go out and do it is what ultimately does a disservice to clients; as it could interfere with existing skin conditions, fade botox/ fillers or simply, results may not be achieved.
Sooo thatās why I am offering a Gua sha workshop for professionals š I have a background knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture school dropout here) and Iāve also been offering this treatment for years now, working with all kinds of face shapes and skin conditions etc. Iāll be sharing all my Gua sha tips and tricks Iāve learned over the yearsšš¼ the class will be hosted on zoom on 3/31 @ 10am PST. After my last online workshop, intro to lymphatic drainage for beginners, I asked you guys what you wanted next- and ofc you all asked for a deep dive on Gua sha, so here it is!
In this workshop Iām going to break it down and connect the theory behind Gua sha & itās relation between traditional Chinese medicine AND esthetics.

Hereās what weāll be going over:
ā¢History & origin of Gua sha
ā¢Metaphysical properties of Gua sha stones
ā¢Muscular anatomy of the face/ neck/ dĆ©colletĆ©
ā¢Benefits, contraindications, aftercare, etc
ā¢A comprehensive protocol + demonstration (for the face/ neck/ dĆ©colletĆ©)
This workshop will be hosted online via zoom On March 31st ( PST). this oneās gonna be for licensed professionals only- but if youāre a student enrolled in esthetician or massage school youāre also eligible to take this workshop. Today marks 9 years to the date of me being a licensed esthetician. I normally pay no mind to this kinda thing, but I came across this old photo (second slide) & I thought it was worth sharing, just to show, a lil slice of humble pie- me at my first job as an esthetician. At European Wax Centerš¹.
We all start somewhere!
Heal Thy Goddess was not built overnight. it took a lot of hard work to get to where I am now, with a busy clientele and an energetic exchange that feels rightā¦ And let me tell you, Iāve failed many times in my time as an esthetician and there were moments where I just wanted to give upā¦ But I kept going. So if youāre someone with a dream, feeling stuck in whatever position you are- just know, that if you can dream it, you can build it.š«š«š«

My top tips for lymphatic drainage >>>>
Of course facial massage is amazing and all, but a lot of my clients like to ask how to maintain the results after a session & keep the lymph flowing for days afterwards.
The answer is simple, it comes down to lifestyle! Hereās a few key components to ensure the flow of lymph:
-Any gentle movements to brush the lymph is helpful, like Dry brushing, Ice rolling , Gua sha, & Jade rollers
-Anything that promotes an expansion & contraction of your muscles (aka exercising lol). this creates a pumping effect on the lymph and stimulates lymphatic drainage. Think light cardio, jumprope, rebounding, running/ jogging /walking etc
-Keeping the body well hydrated is of course a standard. drinking plenty of water & eating water dense foods like fruits &veggies. Drinking water helps the lymph flow smoothly through the body
-Avoiding exposure to toxic chemicals (think skincare products), as these chemicals are absorbed into the body & filtered through the lymphatic system. Do your lymphatic system a favor & cut out toxic chemicals so it doesnāt have to filter even more waste throughout your body
As simple as that!
If youāre a professional in the skincare industry & looking to learn more about lymphatic drainage, Iām hosting a workshop called āIntro to Lymphatic Drainage for Beginnersā on Wednesday, February 2š link in bio for more info

Is your jaw asymmetrical?? Trust me, this is so sooo common.
āHow did you become a holistic esthetician?ā A question I frequently get asked in my dms~
If youāre looking for a short answer- the answer is, there is no *one* way to go about it- but Iāll share my storyš¤
I became an esthetician 9 yrs ago & as I was working in the industry I just felt like ~this aināt it~. Clients would rave about my sense of touch & so I thought Iād pursue massage therapy
Fast forward to massage school I completely fell in LOVE with it. I was introduced to the whole world of holistic health & I felt revived! My passion was ignited & I continued on to study to be a holistic health practitioner. I thought Iād leave behind being an esthetician, and went on to acupuncture school to study Traditional Chinese Medicine.
At the time, I was burnt out from going to school full time & working full time. I was experiencing such dis-ease I literally couldnāt even attend school because i was so sick. I thought to myself, how could I be in the field of holistic health, yet not be healthy myself?
I took a break from school so I could heal my self. In that time I continued my studies in my own way, acquiring personal mentors & reading & just studying for hours & hours on end.
It was a very confusing time for me & nothing made sense. I had no idea what I was doing ~where I was going ~ what I was doing with my life~ you know, the kind of existential crisis every 20 something year old goes through, right? lol.
As I took time to heal myself, I had an epiphany of sorts- I realized I wasnāt suppose to leave behind being an esthetician, but yet I was meant to pioneer what it meant to be a holistic esthetician. It occurred to me that I was meant to COMBINE & INTEGRATE all of my knowledge & studies of massage & holistic health WITH esthetics.
& thatās how I found my niche within the esthetic world! I donāt use any fancy machines. Just my hands & ancient modalities (Gua sha, reflexology, Chinese face reading, etc). I use organic / non toxic skincare products. I utilize crystals, sound healing, energy work. And ultimately I manipulate the skin, the facial muscles, the lymph, in such a way that allows for oneās true beauty to radiate from withinššāØ
Currently reformulating + rebranding my sun goddess oilššš«if you want a bottle, I have a few left! Shop online before it will be out of stock for god knows how long (Itāll be back once I finish wrestling my inner demons of perfectionism ššš¼)
I remember once asking a mentor of mine, āwhen am I going to be completely healed?ā And she said āohhh, honeyā¦ā
ā¦never! Itās a life long journey. Itās part of the work of being a healerā
She proceeded to laugh. And I was like oh sh*tš. It really occurred to me in that moment. That as we make all these strides in self healing, our work is never truly done. Itās about savouring the journey, as There is no true end destination of being āhealedā.
And so, I come back to this same lesson, in my healing. about how it is so important that we take time out for ourselves. Not to be selfish, but yet to be in alignment (with our highest self/ purpose/ whatever you want to call it). And ultimately, as Iām sure you know, one cannot be of service to others while pouring from an empty cup.
Sometimes taking time for our healing looks like getting body work. Sometimes its taking time to meditate. Sometimes its a facial. sometimes its nourishing yourself with wholesome foods. Sometimes its resting. Sometimes itās working with a practitioner- & sometimes itās solo work that only you can do for yourself.
If youāre seeing this take this as a gentle nudge, a reminder, to take time for yourself. So that you can show up as the best version of you, for yourself and also for your loved ones.ā¤ļø
Hiii ok Iām here turning over a new leaf- bc I pretty much posted all but 10 times to the feed last year (lol)
Anyways, thereās a lot of new faces (as well as old) following along here so I thought Iād just post a little update. To sum up my absence, I had a baby in 2020 & this past year was all about learning how to juggle business + single mom life. I had to kinda take a break from being active online while I focused on me & being the best mama and business woman I can be.
Iāve been here though; just steady seeing my clients & hosting trainings (even if I donāt post about it). Buuut Iām ready to be back online again.
A little about me (If you donāt know me already)- My name is Mo & Iām a holistic esthetician & facial massage therapist. I have an extensive background & education in holistic health & massage; which Iāve incorporated into my practice & facial treatments. And now into my trainings, where I teach other professionals as well.
I love everything metaphysical & holistic health. Iām super into astrology & the moon & energy & āØvibezāØ & aaall that, so if u want me to talk your ear off about any of it, Iām here for it šš½āāļø
My philosophies & approach to esthetics have evolved over time, as Iāve both witnessed and experienced for myself, the impact of spiritual & emotional health & itās effect on the body/ face. Ive learned that a holistic approach to beauty truly begins WITHIN; as our face is basically a mirror for whatās going on in an internal level, both physically & energetically.
My practice, Heal Thy Goddess, has been established for 3 years now, going on 4! My studio is located in northpark (San Diego, Ca) where I offer holistic facial treatments and have a little boutique (which is open by appointment only but you can shop online 24/7!) & to book an appointment for a facial you can also do so online.
Iām looking forward to connecting & reconnecting with you all, both in this online space & in real life.š„° ā¤ļø
Iām on Twitter now too lol. But Iāll also add to this thread- bring awareness to your tight or clenched jaw & relax it by pressing the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This is where the ren & du channel (in Chinese medicine) connect. It helps calm the mind and ease stress.āš¼

Motherhood has aged me š„²
I know youāre probably thinking who is this twenty something f*cking year old to talk about aging??? But truly, I have witnessed myself age through the stresses of life over the past year. During the pandemic/quarantine I wasnāt able to practice any of my ~usual~ self care or many of my normal coping strategies, and that continued on after I gave birth.
Fast forward to now & Iām slowly getting back to my self care practices. One of those is cosmetic acupuncture to harmonize my chi (vital life force energy) & manage STRESS of new motherhood š¤Ŗ
Although the aging process IS inevitable I do believe we have AGENCY over our aging process. At the end of day there is no secret to antiaging, it all just comes down to lifestyle and emotional holding patterns.
Donāt wait for lifeās stresses to catch up to you and suddenly you're exploding, crying (or yelling) over the smallest irrelevant thing. let this be your sign. Be proactive in maintaining SELFCARE practices and those around you will thank you - &remember putting others ahead of ourselves only does us a disservice.
Cheers to all the mamasā¤ļø
I feel that at 8 months postpartum Iām beginning to come out of the thick of it and someday Iāll be able to put words to all these feelings of new motherhood during a pandemic & as a small business owner.
In the meantime letās normalize getting help & talking about postpartum depression &postpartum rage. letās normalize the fact that as a new mother you may grieve your old life, old body, and old sense of identity.
Letās normalize that none of these feeling are wrong, and that being a mother is one hell of a job.
Remember to cherish the joyous moments in between the rollercoaster of emotions that is motherhood.
Sending hugs to all mamas, including mamas who have lost & mamas who are TTC.
